The twelve major constellations of the Zodiac are
referred to in the bible as the "Mazzaroth." The word "Zodiac" comes
from the Greek zoad, which means "the way" or "the path."
According to many Christian scholars, God depicted his story and his
promise of salvation within the stars. Astronomical worship
The Egyptian gods and goddesses were numerous and were pictured in many
reliefs. Certain gods were seen in the constellations, and others were
represented by actual astronomical bodies. The constellation Orion, for
instance, represented Osiris, who was the god of death, rebirth, and the
afterlife. The Milky Way represented the sky goddess Nut giving birth to
the sun god Re. The stars in Egyptian mythology were represented by the
goddess of writing, Seshat, whilst the Moon was either Thoth, the god of
        wisdom and writing, or Khons.
The horizon had great significance to
the Egyptians, since it was here that the sun would both appear and
disappear daily. The sun itself was represented by several gods,
depending on its position within the sky. A rising morning sun was
associated with Horus, the divine child of Osiris and Isis. The noon sun
was Re because of its incredible strength. The evening sun became Atum,
the creator god who lifted pharaohs from their tombs to the stars. The
redness of the setting sun was considered to be the blood from the sun
god as he "died" and became associated with Osiris, god of death and
rebirth. In this way, night became to be associated with death, and the
daytime with life or rebirth. This reflects the typical Egyptian idea of
immortality. The Mystery About the Senmut Star Map Senmut presents an entire
celestial system for the first time
Ancient star knowledge included astronomy, astrology, and chronometry,
and in the past it was an especially important subject in knowledge. A
characteristic Egyptian version of this celestial knowledge was
in use long before a specific expressed Babylonian astrology was taken
up openly in Egypt. In the Karnak/Thebes temple already at an early stage, an
observatory was placed on top of the sanctuary of Khonsu, the Moon
god-son. And from most ancient times astronomical lines of sight were
used in planning the axes of the temples.

The great number of Senmut's many posts - in addition to
being the administrator of the Egyptian calendar - was reasonable; for
instance, the secretary of Pharaoh Amenhotep II was the
chief-astronomer at the Karnak (Thebes) Temple and also a surveyor as
well as the inventor of the world's first public book-keeping.
The oldest astronomical traditions in Egypt are scarce and
merely a few drawings of constellations. They show in particular
Sirius - and the Great Bear, called khepesch (or
sometimes meskhetiu) formed as a leg of an ox. Fragments have
been found showing the 36 decan-constellations (earliest findings from
2300 BC) marking the Egyptians' division in 36 sections of the
ecliptic (the apparent course of the sun).

However, in the second and latest tomb of Senmut (in Thebes:
no. TT353) the presentation was far better than by fragments, because
the ceiling of the main chamber is adorned with a detailed
astronomical and astro-mythological, complete star map, which
for the first time presents an entire celestial system. This
impressive map was both a landmark and an invention in Egyptian
astronomy. And at all, they are the oldest collected, complete
          astronomical images.
This unfinished and never used, secret tomb of Senmut was
discovered in 1925 and dated to between 1500-1470 BC. The dating will
be further elaborated and it will appear that in 1493 BC the
construction of the tomb ended abruptly.

It is peculiar that Senmut, whom many researchers presume
was of a middle-class descent, has equipped his tomb in this special
way not even a Pharaoh had been up to.
Thus the tomb contained a special astronomical equipment,
not only the oldest known in Egypt, but still for the next almost 300
years also the only example of such an elaborated, complete star map.
It is a fact that after Senmut a few star maps have been found, and
normally only with the Pharaohs. But later on, in the tomb of Seti I
1200 BC, such a regular, astronomical and astro-mythological celestial
arrangement of stars was found again. And after this there is one with
Ramses II, however not so elaborated.

What kind of a man was Senmut, when he could compete on
equal terms - even surpass the pharaohs in this for that time so
important area? All traces and inscriptions show that although Senmut,
besides having a deep knowledge about the stars, was the country's
greatest man after Hatshepsut, and although he was backed up by a
strong party, he mysteriously fell in disgrace all of a sudden and
disappeared completely. Therefore, Senmut never took this tomb into
use, and there are obvious traces showing that the work was
interrupted suddenly. Materials from the Senmut tomb show dates made
by the workers. The latest dates are from the interruption, which
contribute to pinpoint the time when he disappeared.

line. To compare with the Senmut map's axis - a cosmic factor thus

Who were the authors of the Bible, this fine old book, known as The
Book of God, or God's Word? What was their inspiration? From the
confused accounts of the racial history of the Jewish people, little is
known that can be considered reliable. It is speculated, with some
reason, that they were migrants from a region of Afghanistan near the
Hindu Kush, since Hebrew names and words are still common there. The
Pentateuch itself marks its Brahmin origin. But whatever the history of
the Jewish people before their captivity by Chaldeans and Egyptians,
they had developed racial integrity and a strong sense of unity. Once
they regained their freedom, they gathered together in an effort to
rebuild their nation. Their aim was to have their own laws, their own
scriptures, and their own God. We know from the text of the Old Testament that it had more than one
author and that its parts were written at different times and put
together later. We read in Isis Unveiled, II, 470-1:
"That, after the first copy of the Book of God has been edited
and launched on the world by Hilkiah, this copy disappears, and Ezra
has to make a new Bible, which Judas Maccabeus finishes; that
when it was copied from the horned letters into square letters, it was
          corrupted beyond recognition; . . . finally, we have a text . . .
abounding with omissions, interpolations, and premeditated
          perversions.
Whoever Hilkiah or Ezra were, however, we find that the Book of God is
largely composed of stories of the zodiac, the sun, and the laws or
principles of nature, as they were known to the hierophants and high
priests of Egypt and Chaldea, who were well versed in the
wisdom-religion taught to humanity in its first conscious state.
          It
can be said that there is no actual history in the Old Testament, that
the people in its pages are not real personages, but that most are
symbolic of some phase of the zodiac -- the sun, the twelve signs, or
a natural law. Abraham, for instance, was not a Jew, though portrayed
as the Father of the Jewish people. He was borrowed from the
Chaldeans, inspired by the mighty prince Zeru-an, who was rich in gold
and silver, as written in Chaldean annals, and who bears a resemblance
to Saturn. Neither Solomon nor David is historical. David is pure myth, as are
the prophets. David was conceived to be the founder of the Jewish
dynasty, which through Solomon, his son and successor, acquired
identification with the solar deity, giving it preeminence over all
mankind. It is possible that the patriarchs were real figures, but
even this remains uncertain. Yet let it not be supposed that there is
no truth in the Old Testament. The allegories it contains are as
truthful and profound in meaning as they are numerous. Also, the
Scribes made their allegorical figures into vivid personalities
speaking ideas, as often a delight to ponder on as they are edifying. Although most of the Old Testament has been accepted by
fundamentalists as the gospel truth, even they have confessed to
doubts about Jonah and the whale. For a man to be swallowed live by a
whale and survive to tell the tale was either a Biblical miracle or a
bit of fisherman's braggadocio. There have been many attempts to
interpret the allegory. However, since most of the main characters in
the Bible personify the sun, we can safely assume that Jonah also
represents some aspect of the solar orb. Those three uncomfortable
days and nights were the winter solstice. Between the twenty-first and
twenty-fourth of December the nights are the darkest and longest of
the entire year and were known to ancient astrologers as the Whale's
Belly. No doubt this has reference to the winter constellation Cetus,
the Whale, which is just above the horizon at that time. The 'whale'
was, therefore, in a position to swallow Jonah when he, as the sun,
plunged into the sea. Thus it was that Jonah, the sun, spent three
days and nights in the Whale's Belly, where he meditated on the Lord. In the third century, when the church fathers were consolidating
the Christian church, they had no knowledge of the date of Jesus'
birth. They chose the date celebrated by the pagans, the winter
solstice, when the darkest days give way to the promise of brighter
ones. This was incorporated in terms of the zodiac into the story of
the birth of Jesus, or the sun. In the late hour of the twenty-fourth
of December, the zodiacal sign Virgo, or the Virgin, rests on the
horizon or ascendant. At the hour of midnight, the sun enters the sign
of Capricorn -- the manger and the goat. Thus is the sun -- Jesus --
born of a virgin, by an immaculate conception. The star of the Magi may have been Venus and Jupiter on May 8 of
          the year 6 B.C

Later, as the story goes, the constellation of Orion rises in the
East. The three bright stars in his belt are the three Wise Men who
came from the East to offer gifts to the newborn King. These gifts
were the new-old ideas incorporated into the teachings of Jesus, such
as "love ye one another," "overcome evil with good," and "your Father
and my Father are one," which replaced the old Jewish idea of "an eye
for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth." In the north are the two stars
known to the Arabs as Martha and Mary. So are the starry heavens
related to the great story. Later in the life of Jesus -- the sun --
the twelve signs of the zodiac become his disciples. Although several centuries had passed since the Jewish Scriptures
were written, the presentation of astronomical and philosophical
principles by means of the zodiac had not changed. Paul was a Jew, and
he was familiar with the Jewish Kabbalah and the science of
allegories. It is hardly possible to understand the Old Testament, or
the New, without some knowledge of the Jewish Kabbalah, the codebook
of symbology. From it one learns the esoteric meaning of the first ten
numbers, the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet, the
geometrical triangle, the square, and the circle -- also the esoteric
lore contained in the zodiac -- and these are the elements which help
one to solve some of the riddles of the Old Testament. Hidden indeed
is the meaning of the stories in the Old Testament, even when they are
translated into the terms of the zodiac. Why are the truths of nature so concealed? As Paul wrote in his
first letter to the Corinthians, "We speak the wisdom of God in
mystery!" To hide the truth, of course, does not change the truth. The
sun still shines upon the world as it always has, and always will
until the end of its own cycle. It remains the life-giver, supplying
the vital energy to every atom, and giving to every human being the
power to realize his full potential. We must keep aware of the supreme
place of the sun in our lives, in order better to open the way to a
greater realization of the truth. " Excerpted from: (From Sunrise magazine, December 1974; copyright © 1974
Theosophical University Press) The wisdom-religion was expressed, whether by Hindu, Chaldean, or
Jew, in the same way -- through figures of speech, in myths, parables,
or allegories. There are references to this in the New Testament, where
Paul tells the Corinthians that the story of Moses is figurative -- ". .
. the veil over his face . . . is untaken away in the reading of the Old
Testament" -- and again where Paul tells the Galatians that the story of
Abraham and his two wives is an allegory. Paul explains that this is the
way it is told to those who do not know. Whoever they were, the authors of the Old Testament were obviously
scholars, presumably high priests, men well aware of the traditions and
legends of other peoples all around them for distances of hundreds of
miles. It is evident that they drew upon these traditions and legends in
writing their scriptures, which were to set forth the alleged history
and genealogy of the Jewish people The Book of Enoch records that the angel Uriel revealed the figures
in the stars called the constellations to the prophet Enoch.

              | Chapter 8 it says: 1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and
knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the
metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets,
and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the
eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all 2 coloring
tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed
fornication, and they 3 were led astray, and became corrupt in all
their ways. Semjaza taught enchantments, and root-cuttings, 'Armaros
the resolving of enchantments, Baraqijal (taught) astrology,
Kokabel the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds,
Araqiel the signs of the earth, Shamsiel the signs of the sun, and
Sariel the course of the moon. And as men perished, they cried,
and their cry went up to heaven . . . and in Chapter 9: 33.2 And to the east of these animals, I saw
the ends of the Earth, on which Heaven rests, and the open Gates
of Heaven. 33.3 And I saw how the stars of Heaven come out, and
counted the Gates out of which they come, and wrote down all their
outlets, for each one, individually, according to their number.
And their names, according to their constellations, their
positions, their times, and their months, as the Angel Uriel, who
was with me, showed me. 33.4 And he showed me everything, and
wrote it down, and also their names he wrote down for me, and
their laws and their functions. 34.1 And from there I went towards
the north, to the ends of the Earth, and there I saw a great and
glorious wonder at the ends of the whole Earth. 34.2 And there I
saw three Gates of Heaven; through each of them north winds go
out; when they blow there is cold, hail, hoarfrost, snow, fog, and
rain. 34.3 And from one Gate, it blows for good; but when they
blow through the other two Gates, it is with force, and it brings
torment over the earth, and they blow with force. 35.1 And from
there I went towards the west, to the ends of the Earth, and I saw
there, as I saw in the east, three open Gates - as many Gates and
as many outlets. 36.1 And from there I went towards the south, to
              the ends of the Earth, and there I saw three Gates of Heaven open;
and the south wind, the mist, and the rain, and wind, come out
from there. 36.2 And from there I went towards the east of the
ends of Heaven, and there I saw the three eastern Gates of Heaven
open, and above them, there were smaller Gates. 36.3 Through each
of these smaller Gates, the stars of Heaven pass, and go towards
the west, on the path that has been shown to them. The Book of Enoch The four "cornerstone" constellations, which
date back to the Prophet Enoch, correspond to the four faces of
the cherubim and the four principal tribes of Israel. Their
symbols of the lion, eagle/serpent, man and wild ox (unicorn) are
emblazoned on family coats of arms and the banners of nations.
Several ancient cultures designated four bright
stars in the zodiac as the "four corners of the earth" or the
"four royal stars." At the time the constellations were drawn by
Enoch, these four stars were near the sun's location in the
heavens on the first day of autumn, winter, spring and summer, and
were thus in four of the most important locations in the sky. The
identity of these four stars is well known because there are, in
fact, four bright stars which fit these requirements admirably.
First, the star Antares is a bright red star, which anciently
marked the autumnal equinox, that is, the place in the sky where
the sun appears on the first day of autumn. The next star in the
sequence is Fomalhaut, which is also a bright star, marking
winter. The next star is Aldebaran, another very bright red star
located 180.0° around the ecliptic (the apparent path of the sun
through the stars) from Antares. Thus, it precisely marked the
spring equinox when Antares marked the autumn. Finally, the bright
star Regulus, located almost exactly on the ecliptic, marked
summer. Regulus, meaning "the Prince," was traditionally the
leader of these four royal stars. Each of the four royal stars is in one
constellation of the zodiac, which is the circle of twelve
constellations around the ecliptic. Antares is located at the
heart of the Scorpion (Scorpius). Fomalhaut is located at the end
of the rivers of water being poured out by the Water Bearer
(Aquarius). Aldebaran is located at the eye of the Bull (Taurus).
Finally, Regulus is located at the heart of the Lion (Leo), which
is the king of the constellations, even as the lion is called the
king of beasts. These are called the four cornerstone
constellations in this article because they form the corners of a
great square in the sky and also provide a foundation for
understanding gospel symbolism. Two of the royal stars are listed by the
ancients as being shared by two constellations. Antares is not
only the heart of the scorpion, it is also the heel of the Serpent
Bearer (Ophiuchus), [2] who was encircled by a great serpent
(Serpens) and who is stepping on the body and head of the
Scorpion. Fomalhaut is not only in the stream of the Water Bearer,
it is also in the Head of the Southern Fish (Piscis Australis).[3]
In the case of the Scorpion/Serpent pair, there
is a third constellation which is very closely associated with
them. It is the Eagle (Aquila), which is located near the tail of
the Serpent. The Eagle has been considered to typify the enemy of
the serpent and is often shown holding the Serpent in its claws,
even as the Serpent Bearer is crushing the Scorpion.
               | It has been shown from strictly scientific arguments that the
constellations, as transmitted to us by the ancient Greeks, originated
about 2900 B.C. at a location of about 30° north latitude.
That means they are extremely ancient, being over 2,000
years older that the Greeks at their prime. That fits the Hebrew
tradition perfectly that they were drawn by prophets before the Great
Flood, and in particular, that they originated with the prophet Enoch,
who would have lived about that time. Traditionally there were 48 constellations in the original set: 12
principal constellations in a circle around the entire sky called the
zodiac, with three other constellations called decans which accompanied
        each of those twelve.[5]
Generally there is good agreement between ancient nations on just what
those 48 are, but there have been minor disagreements on three or four
of them. One seems to have been entirely lost, but it may have been
recently restored. The Bible had some very important verses to tell us that we should be
looking at the stars: Job   Job 38:31-33 - God is speaking directly to His
servant Job. He says, "Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or
loose the belt of Orion? Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Do
you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over
the earth?" Mazzaroth occurs in the context of the voice of
Jehovah from the whirlwind (Job 38-41). Job shrivels up before God as
challenge after challenge from the voice of the Creator accentuates
Job's own nothingness in the presence of the Almighty. The infinite
power and wisdom of the eternal God are contrasted time and again with
the impotence and ignorance of Job as finite man, until Job is
completely humbled. In the middle of this great barrage of challenges,
Job is asked the question. The Mazzaroth -

(Mazzaloth) appears in 2 Kings 23:5. The English
Revised Version has "the twelve signs" and in the margin "the signs of
the zodiac." The word itself means:  The Separated, The Divided, or The
Apportioned, and it refers to the allotted spaces given to the twelve
signs in the circle of the zodiac. These are the signs that mark the
twelve divisions of the year. The challenge of Jehovah to Job is that he might
bring forth the twelve signs in their successive order. Of course only
Jehovah could do it. The Scriptures mention the twelve signs of the
zodiac, with the direct implication that God brings them into view at
the proper time for His own purposes. Many of us have been brought up to associate the
twelve signs with the of astrology. Astrology is a "soft science" which
deals with subjective states of mind as well as with objective facts.
Some branches of astrology are : electional, esoteric, genethliacal,
horary, medical, meteorological, and mundane. The book of Job, is probably the oldest book in the
Bible, and is the book which most frequently mentions the constellations
of stars. Job refers to two of the signs of the zodiac: Taurus,
distinguished by the Pleiades, and Scorpio, referred to as "the Chambers
of the South" in the King James Version. Three other constellations are
mentioned: Orion, the Bear, and Hydra, the crooked serpent. If the writings of Job date from as early as 2000
B.C., at which time the zodiac (Mazzaroth) and the constellations were
well known, then even Biblical evidence points to their greater
antiquity. The word zodiac comes from the Greek zodiakos, meaning A
Circle. It is often assumed that the connection is with animals (living
creatures, from the Greek Zoë, to live, and in English zoo, etc.).
However, the root meaning of zodiakos has nothing to do with living
creatures, but instead comes from a primitive root zoad, denoting A Way
or A Path or Going by Steps. In this connection it is used of the way
along which the sun appears to move through the stars in the course of
twelve months. This course is repeated every year as the apparent
position of the sun returns to almost the exact spot that it occupied on
the same date a year before. So the path through the sky in which the
sun travels (or appears to travel) is called the zodiac and is divided
into twelve segments. Each of these twelve segments is marked by a group
of stars which is easily recognized. These twelve groups of stars
(constellations) have names that are familiar to most people and are
known as the signs of the zodiac: Gemini, Aquarius, Leo, etc. Aries (Ram): March 21–April 19 Taurus (Bull): April 20–May 20
 Gemini (Twins): May 21–June 20
 Cancer (Crab): June 21–July 22
 Leo (Lion): July 23–Aug. 22
 Virgo (Virgin): Aug. 23–Sept. 22
 Libra (Scales): Sept. 23–Oct. 22
 Scorpio (Scorpion): Oct. 23–Nov. 21
 Sagittarius (Archer): Nov. 22–Dec. 21
 Capricorn (Goat): Dec. 22–Jan. 19
Aquarius (Water Bearer): Jan. 20–Feb. 18
 Pisces (Fish): Feb. 19–March 20
The Egyptians and the Babylonians kept track of the
year by observing the stars that were in the sky where the sun appeared
(Helio Rising). They divided the year in to 12 parts because their
number base was 12 or 60 and there are 12 moon cycles in a year. They
had the 12 parts each of 30 days and a partial month of 5 days. They
divided the part of the sky where the sun rose into 12 parts to
represent the 12 parts of year. They assigned the group of stars names
and pictures, now called constellations and together form the Zodiac.
When the Sun first arose in a constellation, it was
said to be entering the constellation. Basically, it is starting the
next month of the year. However, the earth has a little wobble in its
axis and this became inaccurate over the centuries. Now if we used the
same zodiac and looked to see where the sun rises we would see that the
sun has shifted 2 constellations. It is 2 months off. Yet astrologers
still use the old calendar (zodiac) to cast horoscopes. Our names for the constellations came from the Latin,
who got it from the Arabs, who got it from the Babylonians. Many of the
star names and the measurement system used to map the heaven still have
their Arabic names. For example, Betelgeuse means "arm pit" (of the
giant) referring to the what we call the shoulder of the constellation
        Orion. From:

              | Where does Jesus go when he leaves the house of Pisces? John 14:1 Let not your heart be
troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:2
In my Father's house are many
mansions: if [it were] not [so], I
would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. NOTE: "In my Father's abode are many

              place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, [there] ye may be also. John 14:4 And whither I go ye know,

we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am
the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me. John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye
should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him,
and have seen him. John 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord,
shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I
been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me,
Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest
thou [then], Shew us the Father? John 14:10 Believest thou not that I
am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak
unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in
me, he doeth the works. John 14:11 Believe me that I [am] in
the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very
works' sake. John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto
you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do
also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go
unto my Father. John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask
in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in
the Son. John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing
in my name, I will do [it]. John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my
commandments. John 14:16 And I will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with
              you for ever;   John 14:17 [Even] the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither
knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall
be in you. John 14:18 I will not leave you
comfortless: I will come to you. John 14:19 Yet a little while, and the
world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall
live also. John 14:20 At that day ye shall know
that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
John 14:21 He that hath my
commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he
that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him,
and will manifest myself to him. John 14:22 Judas saith unto him, not
Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us,
and not unto the world? John 14:23 Jesus answered and said
unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father
will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with
him. John 14:24 He that loveth me not
keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine,
but the Father's which sent me. John 14:25 These things have I spoken
unto you, being [yet] present with you. John 14:26 But the Comforter, [which
is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall
teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my
peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said
unto you, I go away, and come [again] unto you. If ye loved me, ye
would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father
is greater than I. John 14:29 And now I have told you
before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might
believe. John 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk
much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath
nothing in me. John 14:31 But that the world may know
that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment,
even so I do. Arise, let us go hence. When will this happen? Mark 13:2 And Jesus answering said
              unto him,
              Seest thou these great
buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that

And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours
of wars, be ye not troubled: for [such things] must needs be; but
the end [shall] not [be] yet. Mark 13:8
For nation shall rise against nation, and
kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers
places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these [are] the
beginnings of sorrows. Mark 13:9 But take heed to yourselves:
for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues
ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and
kings for my sake, for a testimony against them. Mark 13:10
And the gospel must first be published among
all nations. Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead
[you], and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye
shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be
given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that
speak, but the Holy Ghost. Mark 13:12 Now the brother shall
betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children
shall rise up against [their] parents, and shall cause them to be
              put to death. Mark 13:13
And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my
name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall
              be saved. Mark 13:14
But when ye shall see the
abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,
standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,)
then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Mark 13:15 And let him that is on the
housetop not go down into the house, neither enter [therein], to
take any thing out of his house: Mark 13:16 And let him that is in the
field not turn back again for to take up his garment.
Mark 13:17 But woe to them that are
with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
               Mark 13:18
And pray ye that your flight be not in the
              winter. Mark 13:19
For [in] those days shall be affliction,
such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God

And what I say unto you I say unto all,
              Watch. LUKE 21

          5
And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones
          and gifts, Jesus said,
           6
As for these things which ye
behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one
stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. NOTE:  9/11 twin towers?  7
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things
be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
            8
And he said, Take heed that ye be
not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and
the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.   9
But when ye shall hear of wars and
commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to
pass; but the end is not by and by.   10
Then said he unto them, Nation
shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
            11
And great earthquakes shall be in
divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and
great signs shall there be from heaven.   12
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and
persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons,
being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
            13
And it shall turn to you for a testimony.   14
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what
          ye shall answer:   15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your
adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.   16
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and
kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to
          death.   17
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
            18
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
            19
In your patience possess ye your souls.   20
And when ye shall see Jerusalem
compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
            21
Then let them which are in Judaea
flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it
depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
            22For
these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may
          be fulfilled.   23But
woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in
those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath
          upon this people.   24And
they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away
captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the
Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
            25And
          there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars;
and upon the earth distress of nations,
with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;   26
          Men's hearts failing them for
fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the
earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.   27
And then shall they see the Son of
man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.   28
And when these things begin to
come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your
          redemption draweth nigh.   29
And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all
          the trees;   30
When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves
that summer is now nigh at hand.   31
So likewise ye, when ye see these
things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
            32
Verily I say unto you, This generation
shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.   33
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass
          away.   34
And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be
overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life,
and so that day come upon you unawares.    35
For as a snare shall it come on
all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.   36
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted
worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to
stand before the Son of man.   37
And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night
he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of
          Olives.   38
And all the people came early in the morning to him in the
temple, for to hear him. Luke 22

              1
Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is
              called the Passover.
               2
And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might
kill him; for they feared the people.   3
Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of
the number of the twelve.   4
And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests
and captains, how he might betray him unto them.   5
And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
                6
And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto
them in the absence of the multitude.   7
Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover
              [lamb]
              must be killed. [sacrificed]   8
And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the
passover, that we may eat.   9

And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?
                10
And he said unto them, Behold,
when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you,
bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he
entereth in. NOTE:  The man with the
water pitcher is Aquarius, which officially starts on Dec. 21,
              2012  11
And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master
saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the
              passover with my disciples?   12
And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there
              make ready.   13
And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they
              made ready the passover.   14
And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve
              apostles with him.   15
And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat
this passover with you before I suffer:   16
For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until
it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.   17
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this,
and divide it among yourselves: NOTE: This is the cup of
              Aquarius  18
For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the
vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.   19
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave
unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do
              in remembrance of me.   20
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the
new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.   21 But,
behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
                22 And
truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto
that man by whom he is betrayed!   23 And
they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that
should do this thing.   24 And
there was also a strife among them, which of them should be
              accounted the greatest.   25 And
he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship
over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called
              benefactors.   26 But
ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be
as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
                27 For
whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth?
is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that
              serveth.   28 Ye
are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
                29
              And
              I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
NOTE: Every man born is born
into a house of the Zodiac.  30
              That
ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones
judging the twelve tribes of Israel. NOTE:  The twelve tribes
are the houses of the Zodiac. Fully explained below  31 And
the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have
you, that he may sift you as wheat:   32 But
I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art
converted, strengthen thy brethren.   33 And
he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into
prison, and to death.   34 And
he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day,
before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
                35 And
he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and
shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
                36 Then
said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it,
and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell
his garment, and buy one.   37 For
I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished
in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things
concerning me have an end.   38 And
they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto
them, It is enough.   39 And
he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and
his disciples also followed him.   40 And
when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter
              not into temptation.   41 And
he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down,
              and prayed,   42 Saying,
Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless
not my will, but thine, be done.   43 And
there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
                44 And
being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as
it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
                45 And
when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he
found them sleeping for sorrow,   46 And
said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into
              temptation.   47 And
while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called
Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto
Jesus to kiss him.   48 But
Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a
              kiss?   49 When
they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto
him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?   50 And
one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his
              right ear.   51 And
Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his
ear, and healed him.   52 Then
Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and
the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a
thief, with swords and staves?   53 When
I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands
against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
                54 Then
took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's
house. And Peter followed afar off.   55 And
when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were
set down together, Peter sat down among them.   56 But
a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly
looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
                57 And
he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.   58 And
after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of
them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.   59 And
about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed,
saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a
              Galilaean.   60 And
Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately,
while he yet spake, the cock crew.   61 And
the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the
word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow,
thou shalt deny me thrice.   62 And
Peter went out, and wept bitterly.   63 And
the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.   64 And
when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and
asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
                65 And
many other things blasphemously spake they against him.
                66 And
as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief
priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their
              council, saying,   67 Art
thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye
              will not believe:   68 And
if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
                69 Hereafter
shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
                70 Then
said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto
them, Ye say that I am.   71 And
they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have
              heard of his own mouth.

Didn't God have Paul tells us to look at the stars to see how
the "wrath of God" is revealed in the heavens?
        Romans 1:18 Do you have
        another explanation that fits verse
23? What else can there be in the
heavens that man could change from "the incorruptible God into an image
make like to corruptible man, and birds, and four-footed beasts, and
creeping things?" There isn't anything up there to change but the
pictures of the constellations. The Greeks changed the constellation of
        Coma from a seated
woman with a child on her lap, to a swatch of hair,
and called it Berenice. They obscured the picture that enhanced the main
sign of Virgo. The woman holding the child fills out the "seed" concept
offered by Virgo, with her stalk of wheat in one hand. KEY TO THE CHARTS BELOW:

The Lunar Zodiac would seem from history to be more ancient
than the Solar Zodiac. However, as we shall see, they undoubtedly have a
common source. The Lunar Zodiac can be found in India, Arabia and China.
Unlike China and Arabia, the Indian astronomy assigned figures to each
of the Mansions of the Moon. The Lunar Zodiac travels around
the same ecliptic as the Solar, but is divided into twenty-eight parts.
Each of these Mansions has it's own particular name. Nostradamus used the Moon Nodes to more closely determine
what was going to happen in the future.  Today,
        Dr. Louis Turi uses
Nostradamus' Dragon Tail of the Moon to predict what is going to happen.
I've listened to him for several years and I've never known him to be
        wrong yet.  Either was Nostradamus.
Joseph A. Seiss has written a very complete account of the Zodiacs,
including related subjects, like primeval man. I urge you to get this
book called, "The Gospel in the Stars." About the history of the Lunar
Zodiac Seiss says, "Astronomers agree in regarding this Lunar Zodiac as
containing the most ancient remains of the science of the stars. The
Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians knew little or nothing about it, but it is
a matter of record in China that it was known and understood in that
country as early as the reign of Yao, about twenty-three hundred years
before the Christian era, which was before the time of Abraham. In the
Chinese astronomy it begins with Virgo, which would seem to indicate
that the Chinese table came from the antediluvian times."

There a lot of good reasons to perceive the narratives of
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the twelve sons of Israel as fictional
accounts. One of them is that scholars have been able to date the
time in which they were written to about the seventh century, and,
according to the Bible, the events were supposed to have taken place
about 2200 BCE-a 1600 year gap. It was common practice, in those days, to write a legendary
history as a means of defining a common cultural background. They
weren't intended to serve as an accurate history; there were no
records to work from. According to the "Oxford History of the Biblical World", page 17,
Israel was composed of a confederation. When a tribe joined, a name
was placed in the eponymous list of sons of Jacob/Israel. The twelve familiar names of the zodiac came from the Greeks.
What we are interested in is what the Hebrews called these twelve
constellations. In Genesis 49, Jacob is at the end of his life when
he calls his sons together to tell them what fortune awaits them.
Placing the names of the twelve tribes with the zodiac is not an
exact science. Three references, named below, come to different
            conclusions. On some names they agree and on others they don't;
sometimes they are not convincing. At minimum, they tell is that the Hebrews had a strong belief
that the stars and the sun held the secrets to their destiny. By
sticking with the symbology of the basic constellations and the
stars that fall within their sector. IsraelAfter Jacob fathered his twelve sons, God changed his name to
Israel. In a roundabout way the name "Israel" means constellations
of the Zodiac. According to Strong's dictionary, "Israel" means "he
will rule as God". Astrologically, the sun god rules according to
the motifs of the zodiacal constellation it is in. 28Then he said,
"Your name shall no more be called
Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and
have prevailed." (Gen 32:28) JacobIn Genesis 49, Jacob the father sun is entering the twilight of
its descent. Jacob's swan song is to review the future of his twelve
            zodiacal sons. 1Then Jacob called
his sons, and said, "Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you
what shall befall you in days to come. 2Assemble and hear, O sons of Jacob, and
hearken to Israel your father. (Gen 49:1-2)
AquariusRueben rules in Aquarius the water bearer because of his
association with water. 3Reuben, you are my
first-born, my might, and the first fruits of my strength,
pre-eminent in pride and pre-eminent in power. 4Unstable as water,
you shall not have pre-eminence because you went up to your father's
bed; then you defiled it-you went up to my couch! (Gen.
            49:3-4)
Jacob's firstborn, Rueben, had sex with one of his father's
            concubine. 22While Israel dwelt
in that land Reuben went and lay with
            Bilhah his father's concubine; and
Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve. 23The sons of Leah: Reuben
            (Jacob's first-born) (Gen 35:22)
Gemini and LibraSimeon rules Gemini and Levi rules Libra as brothers in violence.
Both constellations symbolize the number two. The Gemini are
brothers and Libra the scale for settling debts. That they "hamstring oxen" can be seen when the sun rises into
Gemini, making the stars of Taurus appear to descend as if
hamstrung. In the zodiac circle, Gemini lies above and next to
Taurus, and Libra is opposite Taurus. Astronomically, when the sun
ascends into Gemini, Taurus falls away from the sun. And when the
sun enters Libra, Taurus is in full descent. Jacob says he will divide and scatter the brothers in Israel,
which means the two constellations are not in juxtaposition; one is
next to Taurus and the other is opposite Taurus. 5Simeon and Levi are
brothers; weapons of violence are their swords.
6O my soul, come not into their council; O
my spirit, be not joined to their company; for in their anger
they slay men, and in their wantonness they hamstring oxen.
 7Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce;
and their wrath, for it is cruel! I will divide them in Jacob
and scatter them in Israel. (Gen. 49:5-7)
As slayers of men, Gemini includes two bright stars called the
twins. In ancient mythology, the Gemini twins were warlike heroes
who avenged the kidnapping of their sister Helen to Troy. In Genesis 34, their sister Dinah was raped by Schecham the son
of Hamor the Hivite. Simeon and Levi took revenge by murdering the
father, son and all the males of the city. Not content to stop
there, they plundered the city. 25On the third day,
when they were sore, two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi,
Dinah's brothers, took their swords and came upon the city unawares,
and killed all the males. 26They slew Hamor and his son
Shechem with the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and
            went away.
27And the sons of Jacob came
upon the slain, and plundered the city, because their sister had
            been defiled; (Gen. 34:25-27)
LeoJudah rules Leo the lion. Lions got their title as king of beasts
because July is the hottest time of the year. Judah is the tribe
from which king David descends. Jacob associates Judah with lions. A throwback to the ancient
Egyptians, a scepter and staff symbolize sovereignty. 8Judah, your
brothers shall praise you; your hand shall be on the neck of your
enemies; your father's sons shall bow down before you.
            9Judah is a lion's whelp;
from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he couched
as a lion, and as a lioness; who dares rouse him up?
 10The scepter shall not depart
from Judah, nor the ruler's staff
from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs; and to him
shall be the obedience of the peoples.
11Binding his foal to the vine and his
ass's colt to the choice vine, he washes his garments in wine and
            his vesture in the blood of grapes;
12his eyes shall be red with wine, and his
            teeth white with milk.(Gen. 49:8-12)
PiscesPisces is ruled by Zebulun by its association with the sea. As a
haven for ships, fish supply food for long voyages. Of course, water
            borders land. 13Zebulun shall
dwell at the shore of the sea; he shall become a haven for
ships, and his border shall be at Sidon. (Gen.
49:13) TaurusIssachar rules Taurus the bull. Asses associate with bulls in the
sense that they are both pulling animals. Taurus follows Aries the
sheep in the zodiac. 14Issachar is a
            strong ass, crouching between the sheepfolds;
15he saw that a resting place was good, and
that the land was pleasant; so he bowed his shoulder to bear, and
became a slave at forced labor. (Gen. 49:13-15)
ScorpioDan rules Scorpio. In the sector of Scorpion, there is the
constellation Serpens the serpent. A viper that bites the horse's
heels, juxtapositions Scorpio next to Sagittarius, the half man half
horse. When horse and rider fall backward can be seen because
Sagittarius descends lower than Scorpio. 16Dan shall judge
his people as one of the tribes of Israel. 17Dan shall be a serpent in the way, a
viper by the path, that bites the horse's heels so that his rider
            falls backward.
18I wait for thy salvation, O LORD.
            (Gen. 49:16-18)
SagittariusGad rules Sagittarius. "Raiders" make us think of something
military. Being an archer, Sagittarius is a warlike constellation.
             19Raiders shall raid
Gad, but he shall raid at their heels. (Gen. 49:19) VirgoAsher rules Virgo with its association with food. The sun enters
Virgo at the end of the growing season. Virgo is pictured with
stalks of grains in her hand. 20Asher's food shall
be rich, and he shall yield royal dainties. (Gen. 49:20) AriesNaphtali rules Aries the lamb. The sun enters Aries at the
beginning of spring when fawns and lambs are born. 21Naphtali is a hind
let loose, that bears comely fawns.(Gen. 49:21) CancerJoseph rules Cancer. The sun enters Cancer at the height of its
ascent when Orion the hunter with its bow can be seen upright. In
the zodiac circle, Cancer is opposite Sagittarius, so allegorically
they are in opposition. The archers' attack comes from Sagittarius
the archer shooting across the divide from the winter solstice to
the summer solstice. 22Joseph is a
fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a spring; his branches run over
the wall. 23The archers fiercely attacked him, shot
            at him, and harassed him sorely;
24yet his bow remained unmoved, his arms
were made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob (by the name
of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel). (Gen. 49:22-24)
Orion is not one of the twelve zodiac constellations, but next to
the sun, it is the most important constellation in Jewish and
Christian mythology. He is the favorite son and the only one who
receives God's blessings. Starting at Genesis 37, Genesis devotes more space to Joseph than
any of the other brothers. Joseph's brothers didn't like him, so
they left him in a pit to be picked up by a caravan and sold as a
slave in Egypt. In Christian mythology, Orion is personified as the
Son of man. 25by the God of your
father who will help you, by God Almighty who will bless you with
blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that couches
beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb. 26The blessings of your father are mighty
beyond the blessings of the eternal mountains, the bounties of the
everlasting hills; may they be on the head of Joseph, and on the
brow of him who was separate from his brothers.
            (Gen. 49:25-26)
CapricornBenjamin rules Capricorn as a ravenous wolf when Sirius the Dog
Star rises above the horizon in early January. It is the brightest
of all the stars. In Christian mythology, it is the Star of
            Bethlehem. 27Benjamin is a
ravenous wolf, in the morning devouring the prey, and at even
dividing the spoil." (Gen. 49:27) A hint of Paul's dishonesty comes from his claim to be a
descendant of the nonexistent tribe of Benjamin. After the Jews were
exiled in 586 BCE, tribal names became extinct. 1I ask, then, has
God rejected his people? By no means! I myself am an Israelite, a
descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
(Rom. 11:1) EpilogueAllegorically, when the sun dies, it is in full descent at the
darkest months of winter, and is said to be in a cave. Thus, Jacob
is buried in a cave. By a remarkable coincidence, Jesus was also
carried to a cave after he died. 28All these are the
twelve tribes of Israel; and this is what their father said to them
as he blessed them, blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.
            29Then he charged them, and
said to them, "I am to be gathered to my people; bury me with my
fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30in the cave that is in the
field at Machpelah, to the east of Mamre,
in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from
Ephron the Hittite to possess as a burying place.
 31There they buried Abraham and
Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and
            there I buried Leah-
32the field and the cave that
is in it were purchased from the Hittites."
 33When Jacob finished charging
his sons, he drew up his feet into the bed, and breathed his last,
and was gathered to his people.
What's in a NameIf we want to get sticky about names, even the Bible doesn't
agree on all of them. Exodus 1 agrees with Genesis 49. 1These are the names
of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob, each with his
            household:
 2Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and
            Judah,
 3Issachar, Zebulun, and
            Benjamin,
 4Dan and Naphtali, Gad and
            Asher.
 5All the offspring of Jacob
were seventy persons; Joseph was already in Egypt. (Ex.
            1:1-5)
Judges 5 misses two tribes: Simeon and Levi. Two of them, Meroz
and Machir, were added. Considering the importance of the tribe of
Levi in the Exodus, this is not a minor omission-Moses and Aaron
were supposed to be a Levites.

Editors note: Judges 1:3 "And Judah
said to his brother Simeon, "Come upwith me into the territory
allotted to me, that we may fight against the
Canaanites; and I will likewise go with you into
            the territory allotted to you."

                  | Machir was the first-born son of Manasseh (Josh. xvii.
1; I Chron. vii. 14); founder of the most important or
dominant branch of the tribe of Manasseh. His importance is
shown by the collocation of Ephraim and Machir (instead of
Manasseh) in Deborah'e Song (Judges v. 14), which seems to
imply that the whole tribe was once known by his name. This is

they set out thither into the valley, following you, Benjamin,

      the tribes in Genesis 49.

Genesis 49 1 And Jacob called unto
his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you
that which shall befall you in the last days.    2 Gather yourselves
together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your
father.    3 Reuben, thou art my
firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency
of dignity, and the excellency of power:    4 Unstable as water,
          thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed;
then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.    5 Simeon and Levi are
brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.    6 O my soul, come not
thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou
united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they
digged down a wall.    7 Cursed be their anger,
for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide
them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.    8 Judah, thou art he
whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine
enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.    9 Judah is a lion's
whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he
couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?    10 The sceptre shall not
depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh
come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.    11 Binding his foal unto
the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his
garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:    12 His eyes shall be red
with wine, and his teeth white with milk.    13 Zebulun shall dwell
at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and
his border shall be unto Zidon.    14 Issachar is a strong
ass couching down between two burdens:    15 And he saw that rest
was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to
bear, and became a servant unto tribute.    16 Dan shall judge his
people, as one of the tribes of Israel.    17 Dan shall be a
serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels,
so that his rider shall fall backward.    18 I have waited for thy
salvation, O LORD.    19 Gad, a troop shall
overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.    20 Out of Asher his
bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.    21 Naphtali is a hind
let loose: he giveth goodly words.    22 Joseph is a fruitful
bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the
          wall:    23 The archers have
sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:    24 But his bow abode in
strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of
the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of
Israel:)    25 Even by the God of
thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless
thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth
under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:    26 The blessings of thy
father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the
utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of
Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his
          brethren.    27 Benjamin shall ravin
as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he
shall divide the spoil.    28 All these are the
twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto
them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed
them.    29 And he charged them,
and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with
my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30 In the cave that is
in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of
Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for
a possession of a buryingplace.    31 There they buried
Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his
wife; and there I buried Leah.    32 The purchase of the
field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.

            33 And when Jacob had
made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the
bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

Numbers 2NOTE:  In red, you will see the names of the
tribes and where they are located. In blue you will see in which order they
march out.  1 And the LORD spake
unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,   2 Every man of the
children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of
their father's house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation
shall they pitch.   3 And on the
east side toward the rising of the sun
shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their
armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the
children of Judah.   4 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen
thousand and six hundred.   5 And those that do
pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the
son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar.   6 And his host, and
those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and
four hundred.   7 Then the tribe of
Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children
of Zebulun.   8 And his host, and
those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven thousand and
four hundred.   9 All that were numbered
in the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand
and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies.
          These
          shall first set forth.    10
On the south side shall be the standard
of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of
the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.   11 And his host, and
those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six thousand and five
hundred.   12 And those which pitch
by him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children
of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.   13 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and
three hundred.   14 Then the tribe of
Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of
Reuel.   15 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six
hundred and fifty.   16 All that were
numbered in the camp of Reuben were an hundred thousand and fifty and
one thousand and four hundred and fifty, throughout their armies.
          And
they shall set forth in the second rank.    17
Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall
set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp:
as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by
          their standards.    18
On the west side shall be the standard of
the camp of Ephraim according to their armies: and the captain of the
sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.   19 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five
hundred.   20 And by him shall be
the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh
shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.   21 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two
hundred.   22 Then the tribe of
Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the
son of Gideoni.   23 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and
four hundred.   24 All that were
numbered of the camp of Ephraim were an hundred thousand and eight
thousand and an hundred, throughout their armies.
          And they shall go
forward in the third rank.    25 The standard of the
camp of Dan shall be on the north side by
their armies: and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer
the son of Ammishaddai.   26 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were threescore and two thousand and
seven hundred.   27 And those that encamp
by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of
Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran.   28 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five
hundred.   29 Then the tribe of
Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira
the son of Enan.   30 And his host, and
those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and
four hundred.   31 All they that were
numbered in the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand and fifty and
seven thousand and six hundred. They shall go hindmost with their
standards.    32 These are those which
were numbered of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers:
all those that were numbered of the camps throughout their hosts were
six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
            33 But the Levites were
not numbered among the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded
Moses.   34 And the children of
Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they
pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after
their families, according to the house of their fathers. NOTE:  The house of their fathers are the
astrological houses. NOTE FROM JOE MASON:
These are the parts of Numbers 2 that
give the order of the Tribes when they set out on the march are listed
below, along with some other notes.

When I first read the verses, I realized they matched well with the New
Jerusalem plan or diagram. When I understood the order of the march, I
thought of 'marching through time'. In ancient symbolism, this could
compare to the flying arrow or the moving river. I would think it would
apply to people in a boat or other vehicle, land or air, moving along in
      time.

The Zodiac, like a clock, shows movement in time. Each year, in our
perceptions, we "move through" all twelve signs. The precession, the
wobble of the Earth's axis, causes a very slow progression "backward"
through the Ages, each of which lasts an average of about 2,160 years, for
the total circle of 25,920 years.

The apparent movement through the Ages, at a rate of 72-degrees each year,
is tracked by the solstices and equinoxes, especially the winter solstice.
That is give as the birth date of Mithras and Jesus, as December 25th. The
actual date changes slowly, so that in 2012 it will be on December 21st
      (at 11:11 AM, of course!).

 Here's the order --

 Numbers 2:9 - The
whole number of the camp of Judah, by their companies, is a hundred and
eighty-six thousand four hundred. They shall set out first on the march.

Numbers 2:16 - The whole number of the camp of Reuben, by their companies,
is a hundred and fifty-one thousand four hundred and fifty. They shall set
      out second.

Numbers 2:17 "Then the tent of meeting
shall set out, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps; as
they encamp, so shall they set out, each in position, standard by
      standard.

Numbers 2:24 - The whole number of the camp of E'phraim, by their
companies, is a hundred and eight thousand one hundred.  They shall set
      out third on the march.

Numbers 2:31 - The whole number of the camp of Dan is a hundred and
fifty-seven thousand six hundred.  They shall set out last, standard by
      standard."

I missed them when I first looked today,
because I thought they were listed in straight order. The "marching order"
verses are interspersed with the verses about their camp positions.

Note that the order is given by first, second, third, and last. These are
the major four tirbes from the four quarters. Two minor tribes are in each
of the quarters, so there are a total of three tribes in each quarter, for
a total of twelve, who march in order. The Levites march in the middle,
with six Tribes ahead and six Tribes behind.

The Priests from line of Aaron are in

Scorpio was the Eagle to the ancients.

The symbois of the four main Tribes are the "Four Living Creatures"
Ezekiel and Revelation (Lion, Ox, Man, Eagle).

In terms of the Zodiac that we know today, it seems that Ruben and
E'phraim are reversed. Ruben, the Man, as Aquarius, should on the West,
opposite to Judah on the East. The Sphinx illustrates this as the
Lion/Man. E'phraim, the ox, Taurus, should be on the South.

Around 12,920 years ago, the Sphinx was facing toward the East, where Leo
was in the sky. Aquarius was directly behind, 180 degrees away.

feet of a lion, wings and breast of an eagle, and a human head
wearing a miter with six horns. These are features suggesting the
four zodiacal signs of the spring and autumn equinoxes, summer and
winter solstices, as they appeared when, not Aries, but Taurus was
the vernal equinoctial sign; namely: Taurus, Leo, and Eagle (which
later became Scorpio, and Aquarius. So combined, these four brought

about the idea in 1990, in Joseph Campbell's The Inner Reaches Of Outer
Space.  A photograph is shown on page 77 of a "chimeral cherub," a large
limestone carving.  It is a portal guardian from the palace of
Ashurnasirpal II at Nimrud, Assyria, 833-859 BC.  The chimeral cherub
combines the body of a bull, feet of a lion, wings and breast of an eagle,
and a human head wearing a miter with six horns.  Ezekiel lived during the
late 6th century BC, and was located in the area of Babylon, so it is
likely that he was familiar with this symbolism.  The four living
creatures correspond to the Zodiac signs during the Age of Taurus in this
      way -

Lion = Leo - summer solstice
Ox = Taurus - spring equinox
Eagle (which later became Scorpio) = autumnal equinox
Man = Aquarius, the Water Bearer - winter solstice

The Tribes, the Tabernacle and The
      Zodiac

In order to better understand the Book of Revelation, and its Zodiac
associations, I think it is important to study this chapter of the Bible
closely: Numbers 2.  See above or:

      http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers%202;&version=9;
The ratchet spiral of the 1991
Barbury Castle pictogram seemed to represent six Ages, from the start of
Leo to the end of Pisces.

 The Cycle of Time

The ratchet, or Mercury spiral in the Barbury Castle formation may also
indicate a cycle of time of six steps, followed by a seventh.  The angle
from the center of the triangle to the corner touching the ratchet was at
120 degrees, a tetrahedral point.  From that point to the center of the
ratchet, the angle was 108 degrees.  108 is a Gematrian number, and is
associated with time cycles of 108 x 4 =432, or 1080 years.  It is the
number of names for the goddess in India.  108 x 120 = 12960, the number
of years in half the precession of the equinoxes through the Zodiac
signs.  Divided by the six arcs, gives 2160, the length of one Age of the
Zodiac.  This may suggest the period of time between Leo through Pisces.

The Sphinx may also indicate this by the head of a man and the body of a
Lion.  It was probably built in the Age of Leo, over 12,000 years ago, and
it faces east, corresponding to the equinox points at that time.  Directly
behind, at 180 degrees, would be Aquarius.

About four years after these events, my
friend, James Furia, informed me that the sphinx does not face directly
toward the east, but is offset by about four-degrees.  I remembered that
the offsets of the ratchet spiral of the Barbury Castle formation were at
4, 94, 184, and 274 degrees.  An imaginary cross through these offsets
would be rotated clockwise four-degrees.  Perhaps this was yet another
hint that the pattern was sphinx-related.

There was an additional clue in the Barbury Castle formation, in the date
it appeared, July 17, 1991.  According to H.P.  Blavatsky, in Isis
Unveiled, vol.  2, the Biblical patriarchs represent zodiac signs.  For
example, Judah is Leo.  In Genesis 49:9, he is called a lion's whelp, and
he stoops down as a lion and a lioness, i.  e., like a sphinx.

 Noah is Pisces.  Look up

Genesis 8:4 and find that the Ark landed on the mountains of Ararat on
the 17th day of the 7th month.  This seems to be an additional clue that
the Age of Pisces is ending, and that Aquarius is near, or perhaps already
      begun.

It is also interesting that 6 x 108 = 648, which was the length of the
"double-helix/DNA" formation of 1996.  Messages about a DNA communication
are coming from all over the place, including dreams, and "The Keys of
      Enoch" book by J.J. Hurtak.

Take a look at the ratchet spiral on the
lower right. You can see the six arcs and the suggested cross, offset
      4-degrees from North.

In the upper right side is a diagram labeled, "DIAGRAM TO SHOW THE
DIRECTION OF LAY." It shows the directions in which the wheat stalks were
laid down. Notice that the wheat stalks in the ratchet spiral are laid
down from the center of the ratchet counterclockwise, as if rotating
      toward the the triangle.

When I first saw the diagram in September 1991, I felt that it represented
six steps in a cycle of time
 The following poem by Yeats
seems to show the Sphinx, moving, i.e. the Tribes/Zodiac moving in time.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
 The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
 Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
 The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
 Are full of passionate intensity.
 Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

      | The four "cornerstone" constellations, which date back to the
Prophet Enoch, correspond to the four faces of the cherubim and the four
principal tribes of Israel. Their symbols of the lion, eagle/serpent, man
and wild ox (unicorn) are emblazoned on family coats of arms and the
banners of nations. The Four Royal StarsSeveral ancient cultures designated four bright stars in the zodiac as the
"four corners of the earth" or the "four royal stars." At the time the
constellations were drawn by Enoch, these four stars were near the sun's
location in the heavens on the first day of autumn, winter, spring and
summer, and were thus in four of the most important locations in the sky.
The identity of these four stars is well known because there are, in fact,
four bright stars which fit these requirements admirably.First, the star Antares is a bright red star, which anciently marked
the autumnal equinox, that is, the place in the sky where the sun appears
on the first day of autumn. The next star in the sequence is Fomalhaut, which is also a bright
star, marking winter. The next star is Aldebaran, another very bright red star located 180.0°
around the ecliptic (the apparent path of the sun through the stars) from
Antares. Thus, it precisely marked the spring equinox when Antares marked
the autumn. The bright star Regulus, located almost exactly on the ecliptic, marked
summer. Regulus, meaning "the Prince," was traditionally the leader of
these four royal stars. Each of the four royal stars is in one constellation of the zodiac,
which is the circle of twelve constellations around the ecliptic. Antares
is located at the heart of the Scorpion (Scorpius). Fomalhaut is located
at the end of the rivers of water being poured out by the Water Bearer
(Aquarius). Aldebaran is located at the eye of the Bull (Taurus). Finally,
Regulus is located at the heart of the Lion (Leo), which is the king of
the constellations, even as the lion is called the king of beasts. These
are called the four cornerstone constellations in this article because
they form the corners of a great square in the sky and also provide a
foundation for understanding gospel symbolism. Two of the royal stars are listed by the ancients as being shared by
two constellations. Antares is not only the heart of the scorpion, it is
also the heel of the Serpent Bearer (Ophiuchus),
[2] who was encircled by a great serpent
(Serpens) and who is stepping on the body and head of the Scorpion.
Fomalhaut is not only in the stream of the Water Bearer, it is also in the
Head of the Southern Fish (Piscis Australis). In the case of the Scorpion/Serpent pair, there is a third
constellation which is very closely associated with them. It is the Eagle
(Aquila), which is located near the tail of the Serpent. The Eagle has
been considered to typify the enemy of the serpent and is often shown
holding the Serpent in its claws, even as the Serpent Bearer is crushing
the Scorpion. The Four Cornerstone ConstellationsFour Faces of the Cherubim. Both Ezekiel and John the Revelator
describe creatures which correspond to the four cornerstone
constellations. Ezekiel describes creatures with four faces: the face of a
lion, of an ox, of a man and of an eagle, and later identifies them as
      cherubim (Ezek. 1:10,
      10:14,
20-22). The first three of those forms
correspond to the Lion, the Bull, and the Water Bearer constellations. The
fourth apparently corresponds to the Eagle, the constellation which is
often substituted for the serpent/scorpion when symbolizing the celestial
aspect of the fourth cornerstone.John the Revelator also describes four creatures, each of which is
found on one side of the throne of God. One was like a lion, one like a
calf, one like a man, and one like a flying eagle (Rev. 4:7). Here again
we find the same four creatures which correspond to those four
constellations, in this case given in the reverse order as they are found
in the zodiac, which puts the leader first. The fact that these four
symbols are found in a heavenly vision of the throne of God is strong
corroboration of the claim in the Book of Enoch that an angel revealed the
figures of the constellations to the Prophet Enoch. Four Principal Tribes of Israel. Jacob (Israel) had twelve sons,
and each of them is associated in Hebrew tradition with one of the twelve
      constellations of the zodiac.
Hebrew scholars are not sure of the correspondence of all twelve, but the
identity of the four which refer to the royal constellations are clear
from the scriptures. They are the four principal tribes: Reuben, Judah,
Dan, and Joseph. Each of those four tribes is associated with one of the royal
constellations in the blessing given them by Jacob or by Moses. Reuben was
told he is "unstable as water," which alludes to the Water Bearer. The
name Reuben, meaning "Behold a son," also ties him to the Water Bearer,
which, of all the zodiac constellations, has the figure of a man. He is
also mentioned as being over the "excellency of power" (Gen. 49:3-4)
"Judah is a lion's whelp" (Gen. 49:9) ties him to the Lion. Moreover, John
refers to Christ as "the lion of the tribe of Judah" (Rev. 5:5), again
linking Judah to the lion. The Lion represents the King, and Judah began
the royal lineage through which the Davidic line of kings came. The name
Judah means "praised," suggesting that the kings who would come through
him (especially Christ) would be praised. "Dan shall be a serpent...that biteth the horse heels" (Gen. 49:17),
which parallels the symbolism of the Scorpion/Serpent, depicted stinging
the Serpent Bearer in the heel. The name Dan means "judge" and the serpent
symbolizes the wisdom of a judge. The serpent is acknowledged by the Lord
as being one of the wisest of his creatures, probably because of its
having the wise judgment of knowing when to strike. For example, the Lord
has admonished his servants to be "wise as serpents and yet without sin"
(D&C 111:11). The kind of wisdom referred to especially refers to that of
being a good judge. Antares, the bright star in the scorpion, is located
at the heart, which the Lord acknowledges as the seat of wisdom. For
example, the Lord put wisdom into the heart of King Solomon so that he
could judge his people wisely (2 Chron. 1:11-12,
      1 Kings 10:24;
      compare
      Exodus 26:2,
      Ecc. 8:5,
      Job 38:36).
Finally, Joseph is compared to a wild ox, with the multitudes of
Ephraim and Manasseh compared to its two horns (Deut. 33:17). The King
James version of the Bible translates the Hebrew word for wild ox as
"unicorn," as noted in the footnote of the L.D.S. edition. The Hebrew word
apparently refers to an extinct species of wild ox which has two long
forward pointing horns, which is exactly how Taurus is depicted. The
bright star in the Bull represents its eye, which is the symbol of a seer
(one who "sees"). Joseph was known as a great seer, so the Bull was
especially appropriate for his sign. The name Joseph means "Jehovah has
added," probably referring to his multitude of descendants. Thus, each of
the four principal tribes of Israel is explicitly correlated in the
blessings of Jacob to one of the four cornerstone constellations. Balaam's Prophecy. This same imagery was repeated in the
prophecy of Balaam about the destiny of Israel. He mentions that Israel
"shall pour water out of his buckets" (Reuben/Water Bearer), "he lay down
as a lion" (Judah/Lion), and he has "the strength of an unicorn"
(Joseph/Bull), and shall "break their bones" as does either an eagle or
constrictor serpent (Num. 24:7-9). The fact that again all four
figures correspond to the cornerstone symbolism indicates that this
prophecy likely refers to the constellations associated with these tribes. See: The Harlot and Balaam's Donkey:http://www.greatdreams.com/sacred/harlot.htm
Banners and Directions. Each of the tribes of Israel had a
flag or banner with its sign. The Hebrew word for "sign" is translated
"ensign" in the King James Bible (Num. 2:2), but Hebrew commentators make
it clear that the signs also refer to zodiac constellations. According to
tradition, the figure of a man was found on Reuben's banner, a lion on
Judah's, a serpent on Dan's, and a bull on Joseph's (or more precisely, on
his son Ephraim's, who took his place). When they camped, they did so with
these four banners facing the four directions: Judah facing East, Reuben
facing South, Ephraim facing West, and Dan facing North (Num
      2:3,

      Num 2:10,

      Num 2:18,

Num2:25). Heart, Might, Mind and Strength. The four cornerstone
constellations are also apparently symbolic of the four aspects of living
souls: the emotional, spiritual, mental and physical. One example where
the Lord seems to acknowledge these categories is when he tells us to
serve him with all our "heart, might, mind and strength" (D&C
      4:2,
      59:5).
The heart seems clearly to indicate emotions, the mind represents mental
capacities, and strength is physical. The word "might" apparently refers
to spiritual strength because the Lord sometimes says "soul" instead of
might (Mark 12:30). Thus "heart, might, mind and strength" apparently
refers to our emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical aspects. Note
that again these four are in the same order as the four cornerstone
constellations. Elements. The Lord also uses the symbols of fire, wind,
water, and earth to represent these four aspects of living creatures. For
example, he stated that "ye were born into the world by water, and
blood, and the spirit, and so became of dust a living
soul..." (L.D.S.Moses 6:59). As a related example, there are two baptismal
ordinances, each of which has a double significance. We are taught that
the baptism of water symbolizes burial after death (Rom. 6:4), when we are
immersed in the earth. Furthermore, the baptism that is associated with
the ordinance of confirmation is often referred to in the scriptures as
the "baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost" (L.D.S.
      2 Nephi. 31:13-17; D&C 19:31,
      20:41).
Colors. These four elements are also represented by four
colors. Red symbolizes the fire, blood, and emotions. White represents the
spiritual, just as white clothing is used for baptisms and other sacred
ordinances. Black represents the earth, and physical things in opposition
to the spiritual. The water is blue (or sometimes blue-green). One example
of these colors from the scriptures is the colors of the four horses in
the Book of Revelation. The first four of the seven seals each have a
different colored horse and also one of the four cherubim associated with
them. The colors in order are white, red, black, and yellow-green (chloros
      in Greek, translated "pale,"
Rev. 6:1-8). A further indication that this
symbolism refers to the constellations is that the rider of the black
horse holds a balance in his hand even as the Scorpion holds the Balance
(Libra) in its claws. And again, they are in the same order as the
constellations, but beginning with the Bull. One of the strong indications of these four aspects in the stars is the
placement of each of the royal stars in the constellation. Regulus is
located at the heart of the Lion and the color associated with
Judah/East/Lion is red. The heart is considered to be the center of the
emotions and red is the color of blood/fire, which was the element
associated with the emotions. Thus the red lion of Judah ties to the
emotions. The ancient Greeks described Taurus as a snow-white bull. Aldebaran,
the first magnitude star is located at the eye of the Bull. The eye
is symbolic of a seer, as was Joseph of Egypt, who was associated with the
Bull. Thus, the Bull is apparently symbolic of spiritual strength, and
especially the gift of being a seer. Fomalhaut is located in the head of the Southern Fish. This is
perfect placement to represent mental powers. The color that is associated
with this direction varies: it can be blue, green or even yellow. The blue
and green probably represent the water, whereas the yellow has been
attributed to the sunlight coming from the south (the direction associated
with Reuben/Water Bearer). Antares is located at the heart of the scorpion, whose color is black.
The heart is the seat of wisdom, and the scorpion/serpent symbolizes
wisdom. The heart/chest can also symbolize physical strength. Thus, the placement of all four of the royal stars in the cornerstone
constellations is consistent with the symbolism of emotional, spiritual,
mental and physical aspects of all living souls. Note also that the
spiritual and physical are opposite each other in the circle (white
opposite black), as are the mental and emotional (blue opposite red).Heraldry and National Flags. The four symbols with their
traditional colors are common in coats of arms used in heraldry, and also
in the symbolism of many national flags. For example, the royal flag of
Scotland is composed of the red lion on a gold background. The symbolism
here is apparently that their kings are from the royal blood line of
Judah. The arms of England reverse those colors, with a gold lion on a red
background. The coat of arms of Great Britain combines these symbols
(along with Ireland's harp), flanked by the lion and unicorn. The unicorn
is an excellent symbol for the British people who are mostly descendants
of Joseph, and the lion for their kings, from the royal line of Judah.
Some nations combine two different symbolic animals together, perhaps to
represent the combining of two families. One example is the griffin, which
has the head and wings of an eagle and the lower body of a lion. It also
said to have the ears of a horse (unicorn or wild ox?). It is found on
many coats of arms throughout the region of the Baltic Sea and may
represent the combining of Dan and Judah (and Joseph?).
Four Hebrew Tabernacle Colors. The Lord commanded Moses to use
four colors of cloth repeated throughout the tabernacle, especially for
embroidering images of the cherubim. They were blue, purple, scarlet, and
linen (white), nearly always mentioned in that order (Ex. 26:31,
      36;
      27:16;
28:5-15). Those are the same as the four colors of the cherubim,
with purple substituted for black. That substitution could well be because
purple was the color of Levi, and the tribe of Levi were the temple
workers. Moreover, black is the least appropriate of the colors for a
temple, which symbolizes spirituality (white). In support of this
interpretation, note that in the Book of Revelation, the 144,000 temple
workers include the tribe of Levi (purple), but not the tribe of Dan
      (black) (Rev. 7:4-8).
The Four Kinds of Flesh. The symbolism of the figures of the
constellations also explain the "four kinds of flesh" as described in the
scriptures. As already discussed, the Book of Revelation and Ezekiel both
mention creatures having the faces of the lion, bull, man, and eagle. When the Prophet Joseph Smith inquired to know their meaning, the Lord
      explained:
"They are figurative expressions, used by the Revelator, John, in
describing heaven, the paradise of God, the happiness of man, and of
beasts, and of creeping things, and of the fowls of the air; that which
is spiritual being in the likeness of that which is temporal; and that
which is temporal in the likeness of that which is spiritual; the spirit
of man in the likeness of his person, as also the spirit of the beast,
and every other creature which God has created." — D&C
77:2 Here the Lord mentions four kinds of creatures: man, beasts, creeping
things, and birds. The Hebrew word translated as "creeping things" in the
Old Testament includes reptiles, amphibians, fish,[5]
and all invertebrates. Paul also mentions four kinds of flesh: " All flesh is not the
same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of
beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds" (I Cor. 15:39). Here he
used "fishes" to represent the "creeping things" category. The Lord gives
modern day support to Paul's usage by repeating his same four categories
      (D&C 29:24,
101:24). The four cornerstone constellations include representatives of each
zoological category of animal by making use of double and triple
constellations. First, the Scorpion, Serpent Bearer, and Eagle form a set
represent invertebrates, reptiles, and birds. Second, the Water Bearer and
the Southern Fish form a double constellation representing mankind and
fish. The Bull represents beasts (mammals). The lion is the king of all
the beasts and hence might well represent all creatures. Each of these four constellations also refers to a different role of the
Savior, who personifies all the best traits of mankind combined. To
understand them, let us consider each of these four constellations in more
detail. The Scorpion and Serpent Bearer. The Serpent Bearer has been
wounded in the heel by the Scorpion and is wrestling the Serpent, which
      encircles him. He
appears, however, to have the Serpent under control. His feet are firmly
planted, and one of them is crushing the body and head of the Scorpion. There are at least two important meanings which these constellations
bring to mind. First, they can be seen as a graphic portrayal of the great
promise that Adam and Eve heard in the Garden of Eden, when they were
being judged by the Lord for having partaken of the forbidden fruit. The
promise was given that someday her seed (her descendant) would have power
to crush the serpent's head, even though the serpent would be able to
bruise his heel (Gen. 3:15). There are several heroes in the
constellations with one foot on the head of a serpent and the other foot
having been wounded. For example, the Lion's feet are on the head of the
Fleeing Serpent (Hydra), and Hercules' foot is firmly planted on the head
of the Dragon (Draco).Second, it reminds us of the serpent around the staff that healed the
Israelites who looked at it, after having been bitten by the fiery flying
serpents (Num. 21:8). The serpent on the staff has long been a symbol of
healing and medicine, generally believed to be the source of the caduceus
staff of Mercury still is used by our medical profession today. If,
however, the idea was already shown in the constellations, then it dates
much farther back than Moses. The Serpent Bearer apparently symbolizes
Christ as the great Healer who would crush the serpent's head by
overcoming death. Paul's imagery in asking "O death, where is thy sting?"
(1 Cor. 15:55) readily calls to mind the futility of the scorpion stinging
the Master Healer who could victoriously crush death forever. The
symbolism of the serpent is two fold. Sometimes the serpent represents
Satan, and sometimes it represents the Savior, as when Moses had the
people look to the serpent on the staff to be healed. Thus, it is not only
the Serpent Bearer who crushes the scorpion who represents Christ, but
also the serpent/scorpion itself. The Heart of the Scorpion most likely
symbolizes the Wise Judge, which again is best typified by Christ, who is
called the "Righteous Judge" (2 Tim 4:8,
      L.D.S.
      Moses 6:57). The red star
Antares, which is noted for its reddish color, is also in the foot of the
Serpent Bearer, and Christ is described as having "feet like unto fine
brass," (Rev. 1:15). The Water Bearer. This constellation shows a man pouring a river
of water out of a small jar, which descends onto the head of a fish. The
water was said by the Greeks to be mixed with nectar, or to be "living
water." The living water seems to refer to the Savior's true teachings and
      to temple blessings (John 4:14,
      7:38; D&C
      110:10), so the Water Bearer
apparently represents Christ as the Master Teacher as well as he who
endows with power. A very common name for the Savior during his ministry
was "Master," which is the translation of the Greek word for teacher. This
ties to the symbolism of the Water Bearer as representing the mental
aspect of mankind. This is another double constellation, and the royal star is also in the
head of the Southern Fish. The fish is one symbol of Christ's Church, and
one of the Savior's roles is to be the head of his church (Eph. 5:23).
The Bull. Taurus, the Bull, is a wild ox described by the Greeks
as having a hide as white as snow and two long forward pointing horns like
polished bronze or gold. Only the front half of the bull is shown in the
constellation. Its front two legs are bent as if charging ferociously. The bright red star in the Bull is found in its eye, representing a
seer, and the Savior was the greatest prophet and seer. Even as the bull
is described as being "snowy white" and having a red eye, so also the savior was described as having hair
"white as snow and his eyes were as a flame of fire"(Rev. 1:14).
The meaning of the wild ox seems to have been capsulized perfectly by
Moses who declared that the thousands of Manasseh and the ten thousands of
Ephraim are the two horns of the wild ox of Joseph, and that they would
"push the people together from the ends of the earth" (Deut. 33:17, D&C
58:45), referring to the gathering of the house of Israel in the
      latter-days.  Note
that the Lord used this same imagery of the thousands and also ten
thousands as he introduced Moses on the day that Moses actually restored
the keys of gathering Israel (D&C
      110:9).
Perhaps the most interesting part for latter-day saints is that the
Bull is apparently symbolic of the latter-day Kingdom of God. The prophecy
of the history of the world in the Book of Enoch refers to kingdoms as
animals, with the great millennial kingdom represented by a white bull:
Then I saw that a snow-white bull was born, with huge horns; all the
beasts of the field and all the birds of the sky feared him and made
petition to him all the time. I went on seeing until all their kindred
were transformed, and became snow white cattle; and the first among them
became a wild ox, and that wild ox became a great beast with huge black
horns on its head. The Lord of the sheep rejoiced over it and over all
the cattle. I myself [Enoch] was in their midst.— 1 Enoch 90:37-39 (89:45-49
        in Laurence translation).
This symbolism precisely matches that of the constellations. The white
bull, the Kingdom of God in the last days, breaks into pieces the other
kingdoms and grows to fill the whole earth (Dan. 2:35,
      44; D&C
      65:2,
105:32). "All their kindred" being transformed into snow-white cattle
matches the symbolism of the twelve snow-white oxen which hold up the
baptismal font in L.D.S. temples, in which all the tribes of Israel are
symbolized by the bull, the symbol of the tribe of Joseph. Note also that
it prophesies that Enoch himself would be with the latter-day saints,
which agrees with modern revelation (L.D.S.
Moses 7:63). The Bull may represent Zion, the Kingdom of God in the western
hemisphere, from which the law will go forth (Isa. 2:3, D&C
      133:21).
Moreover, because the Bull apparently represents the Kingdom of God and
its great armies, another probable role of the Savior represented by the
Bull is "the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel" (1 Samuel
17:45). The Lion. The Lion is the symbol of the King, and the symbolism
for the Savior's mission is clearly as his role as King of Kings (Rev.
      17:14,
19:16). Thus, all of these constellations point to Christ. The Lion may also represent the eastern half of the Kingdom of God in
Jerusalem from which the word will go forth, even as the Bull represents
the Kingdom of God in the West (Isa. 2:3). It is depicted with its
forepaws near the head of the Fleeing Serpent. Excerpted from:

      | Helena Blavatsky - Isis Unveiled - Volume II Beginning at page 439
 David is the Israelitish King
Arthur. He did great achievements and established a government in all
Syria and Idumea. His dominion extended from Armenia and Assyria on the
north and north-east, the Syrian Desert and Persian Gulf on the East,
Arabia on the south, and Egypt and the Levant on the west. Only Phoenicia
was excepted. His friendship with Hiram seems to indicate that he made his first
expedition from that country into Judea; and his long residence at Hebron,
the city of the Kabeiri (Arba or four), would seem likewise to
imply that he established a new religion in the country. After David came Solomon, powerful and luxurious, who sought to
consolidate the dominion which David had won. As David was a
Jehovah-worshipper, a temple of Jehovah (Tukt Suleima) was built in
Jerusalem, while shrines of Moloch-Hercules, Khemosh, and Astarte were
erected on Mount Olivet. These shrines remained till Josiah.
There were conspiracies formed. Revolts took place in
Idumea and Damascus; and Ahijah the prophet led the popular movement which
resulted in deposing the house of David and making Jeroboam king. Ever
      after the prophets dominated in Israel, where the calf-worship prevailed;
the priests ruled over the weak dynasty of David, and the
 (page 440)
lacivious local worship existed over the whole country. After the
destruction of the house of Ahab, and the failure of Jehu and his
descendants to unite the country under one head, the endeavor was made in
Judah. Isaiah had terminated the direct line in the person of Ahaz (Isaiah
vii. 9), and placed on the throne a prince from Bethlehem (Micah
      v. 2,
5). This was Hezekiah. On ascending the throne, he
invited the chiefs of Israel to unite in alliance with him against Assyria
      (2 Chronicles, xxx. 1, 21; xxxi. 1, 5;
      2 Kings,
xviii. 7). He seems to have established a sacred college (Proverbs
xxv. 1), and to have utterly changed the worship. Aye, even
unto breaking into pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made.
This makes the story of Samuel and David and
Solomon mythical. Most of the prophets who were
literate seem to have begun about this time to write. The country was finally overthrown by the Assyrians, who found the
same people and institutions as in the Phoenician and other countries.
Hezekiah was not the lineal, but the titular son of
Ahaz. Isaiah, the prophet, belonged to the royal family, and Hezekiah was
reputed his son-in-law. Ahaz refused to ally himself with the prophet and
his party, saying: "I will not tempt (depend on) the Lord" (Isaiah
vii. 12). The prophet had declared: "If you will not
believe, surely you shall not be established" -- foreshadowing the
deposition of his direct language. "Ye weary my God," replied the prophet,
and predicted the birth of a child by an alma, or temple-woman,
and that before it should attain full age (Hebrews v.
      14;
       Isaiah vii. 16;
viii. 4), the king of Assyria should overcome
Syria and Israel. This is the prophecy which Irenaeus took such pains to
connect with Mary and Jesus, and made the reason why the mother of the
Nazarene prophet is represented as belonging to the temple, and
consecrated to God from her infancy. In a second song, Isaiah celebrated the new chief, to
sit on the throne of David (ix. 6, 7; xi. 1), who should restore to their
homes the Jews whom the confederacy had led captive (Isaiah viii.
      2-12; Joel iii. 1-7; Obadiah 7, 11, 14).
Micah -- his contemporary -- also announced the same event (iv. 7-13; v.
1-7). The Redeemer was to come out of Bethlehem; in other words, was of
the house of David; and was to resist Assyria to whom Ahaz had sworn
allegiance, and also to reform religion (2 Kings, xviii. 4-8).
This Hezekiah did. He was grandson of Zechariah the seer (2
Chronicles, xxix. 1; xxvi. 5), the counsellor of Uzziah; and
as soon as he ascended the throne he restored the religion of David, and
destroyed the last vestiges of that of Moses, i.e., the
esoteric doctrine, declaring "our fathers have trespassed" (2
Chron., xxix. 6-9). He next attempted a reunion with the northern
monarchy, page 441 there being an interregnum in Israel (2 Chron.,
      xxx. 1, 2, 6;

2 Chron. xxxi. 1, 6, 7). It was successful, but resulted in an
invasion by the king of Assyria. But it was a new regime; and all
this shows the course of two parallel streams in the religious worship of
the Israelites; one belonging to the state religion and adopted to fit
political exigencies; the other pure idolatry, resulting from ignorance of
the true esoteric doctrine preached by Moses. For the first time since
Solomon built them "the high places were taken away." It was Hezekiah who was the expected Messiah of the
exoteric state-religion. He was the scion from the stem of Jesse, who
should recall the Jews from a deplorable captivity, about which the Hebrew
historians seem to be very silent, carefully avoiding all mention of this
particular fact, but which the irascible prophets imprudently disclose. If
Hezekiah crushed the exoteric Baal-worship, he also tore violently away
the people of Israel from the religion of their fathers, and the secret
rites instituted by Moses. It was Darius Hystaspes who was the first to
establish a Persian colony in Judea, Zoro-Babel was perhaps the leader.
"The name Zoro-babel (Zurubbabel) means 'the seed or son of Babylon' -- as
Zoro-aster is the seed, son, or prince of Ishtar."* The new colonists
were doubtless Judaei. This is a designation from the East. Even
Siam is called Judia, and there was an Ayodia in India. The temples of
Solom or Peace were numerous. Throughout Persia and Afghanistan the
names of Saul and David are very common. The "Law" is ascribed in turn to
      Hezekiah, Ezra, Simon the Just, and the Asmonean period. Nothing definite;
everywhere contradictions. When the Asmonean period began, the chief
supporters of the Law were called Asideans or Khasdim (Chaldeans), and
afterward Pharisees or Pharsi (Parsis). This indicates that Persian
colonies were established in Judea and ruled the country; while all the
people that are mentioned in the books of Genesis and Joshua
lived there as a commonalty (see
Ezra ix. 1). There is no real history in the
      Old Testament, and the little
historical information one can glean is only found in the indiscreet
revelations of the prophets. The book, as a whole, must have been written
at various times, or rather invented as an authorization of some
subsequent worship, the origin of which may be very easily traced
partially to the Orphic Mysteries, and partially to the ancient Egyptian
rites in familiarity with which Moses was brought up from his infancy.
Since the last century the Church has been gradually forced into
concessions of usurped biblical territory to those to whom it of right
belonged. page 442Inch by inch has been yielded, and one personage
after another been proved mythical and Pagan. But now, after the recent
discovery of George Smith, the much-regretted Assyriologist, one of the
securest props of the Bible has been pulled down.
Sargon and his tablets are about demonstrated to be older than Moses. Like
the account of Exodus, the birth and story of the lawgiver seem
to have been "borrowed" from the Assyrians, as the "jewels of gold and
jewels of silver" were said to be from the Egyptians.
On page 224 of Assyrian Discoveries, Mr.
George Smith says: "In the palace of Sennacherib at Kouyunjik, I found
another fragment of the curious history of Sargon, a translation of which
I published in the Transactions of the Society of Biblical
Archaeology, vol. i., part i., page 46. Editors note: Compare the following story to
Moses This text relates that Sargon, an early Babylonian
monarch, was born of royal parents, but concealed by his mother, who
placed him on the Euphrates in an ark of rushes, coated with bitumen, like
that in which the mother of Moses hid her child (see
       Exodus ii.).
Sargon was discovered by a man named Akki, a water-carrier, who adopted
him as his son; and he afterward became King of Babylonia. The capital of
Sargon was the great city of Agadi -- called by the Semites Akkad --
mentioned in Genesis as a capital of
      Nimrod (Genesis x.
l0), and here he reigned for forty-five years.* Akkad lay
near the city of Sippara,** on the Euphrates
and north of Babylon. "The date of Sargon, who may be termed the
Babylonian Moses, was in the sixteenth century and perhaps earlier."
       G. Smith adds in his Chaldean Account that Sargon I. was a
Babylonian monarch who reigned in the city of Akkad about 1600 B.C. The
name of Sargon signifies the right, true, or legitimate king. This curious
story is found on fragments of tablets from Kouyunjik, and reads as
      follows:
        1. Sargona, the powerful king, the king of Akkad am I.2. My mother was a princess, my father I did not know, a brother of my
        father ruled over the country.
 3. In the city of Azupirana, which is by the side of the river
        Euphrates,
 4. My mother, the princess, conceived me; in difficulty she brought me
        forth.
 5. She placed me in an ark of rushes, with bitumen my exit she sealed
        up.
 6. She launched me in the river which did not drown me.
 7. The river carried me to Akki, the water-carrier it brought me.
 8. Akki, the water-carrier, in tenderness of bowels, lifted me, etc.,
        etc.
[[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * Moses reigned over the people of Israel in the
wilderness for over forty years. ** The name of the wife of Moses was Zipporah (Exodus ii). page 443 And now
Exodus ii: "And when she (Moses'
mother) could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes,
and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein, and
she laid it in the flags by the river's brink." The story, says Mr. G. Smith, "is supposed to have happened about
1600 B.C., rather earlier than the supposed age of Moses* as we know that
the fame of Sargon reached Egypt, it is quite likely that this account had
a connection with the event related in
       Exodus ii, for every
action, when once performed, has a tendency to be repeated."

The "ages" of the Hindus differ but little from those
of the Greeks, Romans, and even the Jews. We include the Mosaic
computation advisedly, and with intent to prove our position. The
chronology which separates Moses from the creation of the world by
only four generations seems ridiculous, merely because the Christian
clergy would enforce it upon the world literally.**
The kabalists know that these generations stand for ages of the world. The
allegories which, in the Hindu calculations, embrace the whole stupendous
sweep of the four ages, are cunningly made in the Mosaic books, through
the obliging help of the Masorah, to cram into the small period
of two millenniums and a half (2513)! The exoteric plan of the Bible
was made to answer also to four ages. Thus, they reckon the Golden
Age from Adam to Abraham; the silver, from Abraham to David; copper, from
David to the Captivity; thenceforward, the iron. But the secret
computation is quite different, and does not vary at all from the zodiacal
calculations of the Brahmans. We are in the Iron Age, or Kali-Yug, but it
began with Noah, the mythical ancestor of our race. Editors note: See: KALI YUGA DATABASE

Noah, or Nuah, like all the euhemerized
manifestations of the Unrevealed One -- Swayambhuva (or Swayambhu), was
androgyne. Thus, in [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * About 1040, the Jewish doctors removed their
schools from Babylonia to Spain, and of the four great rabbis that
flourished during the next four centuries, their works all show different
readings, and abound with mistakes in the manuscripts. The "Masorah" made
things still worse. Many things that then existed in the manuscripts are
there no longer, and their works teem with interpolations as well as with
lacunae. The oldest Hebrew manuscript belongs to this period.
Such is the divine revelation we are to credit. ** No chronology was accepted by the rabbis as authoritative till
the twelfth century. The 40 and 1,000 are not exact numbers, but have been
crammed in to answer monotheism and the exigencies of a religion
calculated to appear different from that of the Pagans. ("Chron. Orth.,"
      p. 238). One finds in the "Pentateuch" only events occurring about two
years before the fabled "Exodus" and the last year. The rest of the
chronology is nowhere, and can be followed only through kabalistic
computations, with a key to them in the hand. PAGE 444 some instances, he belonged to the purely feminine
triad of the Chaldeans, known as "Nuah, the universal Mother." We have
shown, in another chapter, that every male triad had its feminine
counterpart, one in three, like the former. It was the passive complement
of the active principle, its reflection. In India, the male
trimurty is reproduced in the Sakti-trimurti, the feminine; and in
Chaldea, Ana, Belita and Davkina answered to Anu, Bel, Nuah. The former
three resumed in one -- Belita, were called: "Sovereign goddess, lady of the nether abyss, mother
of gods, queen of the earth, queen of fecundity."
       As the primordial humidity,
whence proceeded all, Belita is Tamti, or the sea, the mother of
the city of Erech (the great Chaldean necropolis), therefore, an
infernal goddess. In the world of stars and planets she is known as Istar
or Astoreth. Hence, she is identical with Venus, and every other queen of
heaven, to whom cakes and buns were offered in sacrifice,* and, as all the
archaeologists know, with Eve, the mother of all that live, and
with Mary. NOAH'S ARK The Ark, in which are preserved the germs of all
living things necessary to repeople the earth, represents the survival of
life, and the supremacy of spirit over matter, through the conflict of the
opposing powers of nature. In the Astro-Theosophic chart of the Western
Rite, the Ark corresponds with the navel, and is placed at the sinister
side, the side of the woman (the moon), one of whose symbols is the left
pillar of Solomon's temple -- Boaz. The umbilicus is connected with the
receptacle in which are fructified the germs of the race.**
The Ark is the sacred Argha of the Hindus,
and thus, the relation in which it stands to Noah's ark may be easily
inferred, when we learn that the Argha was an oblong vessel, used by the
high priests as a sacrificial chalice in the worship of Isis, Astarte, and
Venus-Aphrodite, all of whom were goddesses of the generative powers of
      nature, or of
matter -- hence, representing symbolically the Ark containing the germs of
all living things. We admit that Pagans had and now have -- as in India -- strange
symbols, which, to the eyes of the hypocrite and Puritan, seem
scandalously [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * The Gnostics, called Collyridians, had transferred
from Astoreth their worship to Mary, also Queen of Heaven. They were
persecuted and put to death by the orthodox Christians as heretics. But if
these Gnostics had established her worship by offering her sacrifices of
cakes, cracknels, or fine wafers, it was because they imagined her to have
been born of an immaculate virgin, as Christ is alleged to have been born
of his mother. And now, the Pope's infallibility having been
recognized and accepted, its first practical manifestation is the revival
of the Collyridian belief as an article of faith (See "Apocryphal New
Testament"; Hone: "The Gospel of Mary attributed to Matthew").
page 445 immoral. But did not the ancient Jews copy most of
these symbols? We have described elsewhere the identity of the lingham
with Jacob's pillar, and we could give a number of instances from the
present Christian rites, bearing the same origin, did but space permit,
and were not all these noticed fully by Inman and others (See Inman's
Ancient Faiths Embodied in Ancient Names). Describing the worship of the Egyptians, Mrs. Lydia
Maria Child says: "This reverence for the production of life, introduced
into the worship of Osiris, the sexual emblems so common in Hindustan. A
colossal image of this kind was presented to his temple in Alexandria, by
King Ptolemy Philadelphus. . . . Reverence for the mystery of organized
life led to the recognition of a masculine and feminine principle in all
things, spiritual or material. . . . The sexual emblems, everywhere
conspicuous in the sculptures of their temples, would seem impure in
description, but no clean and thoughtful mind could so regard
them while witnessing the obvious simplicity and solemnity with which the
subject is treated."* Thus speaks this respected lady and admirable writer,
and no truly pure man or woman would ever think of blaming her for it. But
such a perversion of the ancient thought is but natural in an age of cant
and prudery like our own. The water of the flood when
standing in the allegory for the symbolic "sea," Tamti, typifies the
turbulent chaos, or matter, called "the great dragon." According to
the Gnostic and Rosicrucian medaeival doctrine, the creation of woman was
not originally intended. She is the offspring of man's own impure fancy,
and, as the Hermetists say, "an obtrusion." Created by an unclean thought
she sprang into existence at the evil "seventh hour," when the
"supernatural" real worlds had passed away and the "natural" or
delusive worlds began evolving along the "descending Microcosmos," or
the arc of the great cycle, in plainer phraseology. First
"Virgo," the Celestial Virgin of the Zodiac, she
became "Virgo-Scorpio." But in evolving his second companion, man
had unwittingly endowed her with his own share of Spirituality; and the
new being whom his "imagination" had called into life became his "Saviour"
from the snares of Eve-Lilith, the first Eve, who had a greater share of
matter in her composition than the primitive "spiritual" man.**
[[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * "Progress of Religious Ideas." ** Lilith was Adam's first wife "before he
married Eve," of whom "he begat nothing but devils"; which
strikes us as a very novel, if pious, way of explaining a very
philosophical allegory. page 446 Thus woman stands in the
cosmogony in relation to "matter" or the great deep, as the
"Virgin of the Sea," who crushes the "Dragon" under her foot. The "Flood"
is also very often shown, in symbolical phraseology, as the "great
Dragon." For one acquainted with these tenets it becomes more than
suggestive to learn that with the Catholics the Virgin Mary is not only
the accepted patroness of Christian sailors, but also the "Virgin of the
Sea." So was Dido the patroness of the Phoenician mariners;* and together
with Venus and other lunar goddesses -- the moon
having such a strong influence over the tides -- was the "Virgin of the
Sea." Mar, the Sea, is the root of the name Mary. The blue color,
which was with the ancients symbolical of the "Great Deep" or the material
world, hence -- of evil, is made sacred to our "Blessed Lady." It
is the color of "Notre Dame de Paris." On account of its relation to the
symbolical serpent this color is held in the deepest aversion by the
ex-Nazarenes, disciples of John the Baptist, now the Mendaeans of Basra.
       Among the beautiful plates of
Maurice, there is one representing Christna (Krishna) crushing the head of the
Serpent. A three-peaked mitre is on his head (typifying the trinity), and
the body and tail of the conquered serpent encircles the figure of the
Hindu god. This plate shows whence proceeded the inspiration for the "make
up" of a later story extracted from an alleged prophecy. "I will put
enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it
shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
The Egyptian Orante is also shown with his arms
extended as on a crucifix, and treading upon the "Serpent"; and Horus (the
Logos) is represented piercing the head of the dragon, Typhon or Aphophis.
All this gives us a clew to the biblical allegory of Cain and Abel. Cain
was held as the ancestor of the Hivites, the Serpents, and the twins of
Adam are an evident copy from the fable of Osiris and Typhon. Apart from
the external form of the allegory, however, it embodied the philosophical
conception of the eternal struggle of good and evil.
But how strangely elastic, how adaptable to
any and every thing this mystical philosophy proved after the Christian
era! When were ever facts, irrefutable, irrefragable, and beyond denial,
less potential for the reestablishment of truth than in our century of
casuistry and Christian cunning? Is Christna (Krishna)proved to have been known as
the "Good Shepherd- [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * It is in commemoration of the Ark of the Deluge
that the Phoenicians, those bold explorers of the "deep," carried, fixed
on the prow of their ships, the image of the goddess Astarte, who is
Elissa, Venus Erycina of Sicily, and Dido, whose name is the feminine of
David. page 447 ages before the year A.D. 1, to have crushed the
Serpent Kalinaga, and to have been crucified -- all this was but a
prophetic foreshadowing of the future! Are the Scandinavian Thor, who
bruised the head of the Serpent with his cruciform mace, and Apollo, who
killed Python, likewise shown to present the most striking similarities
with the heroes of the Christian fables; they become but original
conceptions of "heathen" minds, "working upon the old Patriarchal
prophecies respecting the Christ, as they were contained in the one
universal and primeval Revelation"!* The flood, then, is the "Old
Serpent" or the great deep of matter, Isaiah's "dragon in the sea"
, over which the ark safely crosses on its way to the mount of
Salvation. But, if we have heard of the ark and Noah, and the Bible
at all, it is because the mythology of the Egyptians was ready at
hand for Moses (if Moses ever wrote any of the Bible),
and that he was acquainted with the story of Horus, standing on his boat
of a serpentine form, and killing the Serpent with his spear; and with the
hidden meaning of these fables, and their real origin. This is also why we
find in Leviticus, and other parts of his books, whole pages of
laws identical with those of Manu. The animals shut up in the ark
are the human passions. They typify certain ordeals of initiation,
and the mysteries which were instituted among many nations in
commemoration of this allegory. Noah's ark rested on
the seventeenth of the seventh month. Here we have again the
number; as also in the "clean beasts" that he took by sevens into
the ark. Speaking of the water-mysteries of Byblos, Lucian says:
"On the top of one of the two pillars which Bacchus set up, a man remains
seven days."** He supposes this was done to honor Deukalion.
Elijah, when praying on the top of Mount Carmel, sends his servant to look
for a cloud toward the sea, and repeats, "go again
seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, behold
there arose a little cloud out of the sea like a man's hand."***
"Noah is a revolutio of Adam, as
Moses is a revolutio of Abel and Seth," says the Kabala; that is
to say, a repetition or another version of the same story. The greatest
proof of it is the distribution of the characters in the Bible.
For instance, beginning with Cain, the first
murderer, every fifth man in his line of descent is a murderer.
Thus there come Enoch, Irad, Mehujael, Methuselah, and the fifth
is Lamech, the second [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * Dr. Lundy: "Monumental Christianity." ** Lucian, iv. 276. *** 1 Kings xviii. All this is allegorical, and, what is more,
purely magical. For Elijah is bent upon an incantation. page 448 murderer, and he is Noah's father.
By drawing the five-pointed star of
Lucifer (which has its crown-point downward) and writing the name of Cain
beneath the lowest point, and those of his descendants successively at
each of the other points, it will be found that each fifth name -- which
would be written beneath that of Cain -- is that of a murderer.
In the Talmud this genealogy is
given complete, and thirteen murderers range themselves in line below the
name of Cain. This is no coincidence. Siva is the Destroyer, but
he is also the Regenerator. Cain is a murderer, but he is also
the creator of nations, and an inventor. This star of Lucifer is the same
one that John sees falling down to earth in his Apocalypse.
In Thebes, or Theba, which means ark --
TH-ABA being synonymous with Kartha or
Tyre, Astu or Athens and Urbs or Rome, and meaning also the city -- are
found the same foliations as described on the pillars of the temple of
Solomon. The bicolored leaf of the olive, the three-lobed figleaf, and the
lanceolate-shaped laurel-leaf, had all esoteric as well as popular or
vulgar meanings with the ancients. The researches of Egyptologists present another
corroboration of the identity of the Bible-allegories with those
of the lands of the Pharaohs and Chaldeans. The dynastic chronology of the
Egyptians, recorded by Herodotus, Manetho, Eratosthenes, Diodorus Siculus,
and accepted by our antiquarians, divided the period of Egyptian history
under four general heads: the dominion of gods, demi-gods, heroes, and
mortal men. By combining the demi-gods and heroes into one class, Bunsen
reduces the periods to three: the ruling gods, the demi-gods or heroes --
sons of gods, but born of mortal mothers -- and the Manes, who were the
ancestors of individual tribes. These subdivisions, as any one may
perceive, correspond perfectly with the biblical Elohim, sons of God,
giants, and mortal Noachian men. Editors note: Read the books of
Zechariah Sitchen for more details. His book "The Twelfth Planet" has a
whole different explanation for the 'flood'.

 | Diodorus of Sicily and Berosus give us the names of
the twelve great gods who presided over the twelve months of the year and
the twelve signs of the zodiac. These names, which include Nuah,* are too
well known to require repetition. The double-faced Janus was also at the
head of twelve gods, and in his representations of him he is made to hold
the keys to the celestial domains. All these having served as models for
the biblical patriarchs, have done still further service -- especially
Janus -- by furnishing copy to St. Peter and his twelve apostles, the

       Janus at the Vatican
[[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * The Talmud books say that Noah was himself the
dove (spirit), thus identifying him still more with the Chaldean
Nouah. Baal is represented with the wings of a dove, and the Samaritans
worshipped on Mount Gerizim the image of a dove. "Talmud, Tract. Chalin.,"
fol. 6, col. 1. page 449 former also double-faced in his denial, and also
represented as holding the keys of Paradise.
This statement that the story of Noah is but
another version in its hidden meaning of the story of Adam and his three
sons, gathers proof on every page of the book of Genesis. Adam is
the prototype of Noah. Adam falls because he eats of the
forbidden fruit of celestial knowledge; Noah, because he tastes
of the terrestrial fruit: the juice of the grape representing the
abuse of knowledge in an unbalanced mind. Adam gets
stripped of his spiritual envelope; Noah of his terrestrial clothing; and
the nakedness of both makes them feel ashamed. The wickedness of
Cain is repeated in Ham. But the descendants of both are shown as the
wisest of races on earth; and they are called on this account "snakes,"
and the "sons of snakes," meaning the sons of wisdom, and not of
Satan, as some divines would be pleased to have the world understand the
term. Enmity has been placed between the "snake" and the "woman"
only in this mortal phenomenal "world of man" as "born of woman."
Before the carnal fall, the "snake" was Ophis, the divine wisdom,
which needed no matter to procreate men, humanity being utterly spiritual.
Hence the war between the snake and the woman, or between spirit and
matter. If, in its material aspect, the "old serpent" is matter,
and represents Ophiomorphos, in its spiritual meaning it becomes Ophis-Christos.
In the magic of the old Syro-Chaldeans both are conjoint in the zodiacal
sign of the androgyne of Virgo-Scorpio, and may be divided or
separated whenever needed. Thus as the origin of "good and evil," the
meaning of the S.S. and Z.Z. has always been interchangeable; and if upon
some occasions the S.S. on sigils and talismans are suggestive of
serpentine evil influence and denote a design of black magic upon
others, the double S.S. are found on the sacramental cups of the Church
and mean the presence of the Holy Ghost, or pure wisdom. The Midianites were known as the wise men,
or sons of snakes, as well as Canaanites and Hamites; and such was the
renown of the Midianites, that we find Moses, the prophet, led on, and
inspired by "the Lord," humbling himself before
Hobab, the son of Raguel, the Midianite, and beseeching
      him to remain with the people of Israel: "Leave us not, I pray thee;
forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp IN THE
WILDERNESS, thou mayest be to us instead of eyes."*
Further, when Moses sends spies to search out the land of Canaan, they
bring as a proof of the wisdom (kabalistically speaking) and goodness of
the land, a branch with one cluster of grapes, which
they are compelled to bear between two men on a staff. Moreover, they add:
"we saw the children of ANAK there."
       [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * Numbers x. 29, 31. page 450 They are the giants,
the sons of Anak, "which come of the giants,* and we
were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."**
Anak is Enoch, the patriarch, who dies
not, and who is the first possessor of the "mirific name," according
to the Kabala, and the ritual of Freemasonry. Comparing the biblical patriarchs with the descendants of
Vaiswasvata, the Hindu Noah, and the old Sanscrit traditions about the
deluge in the Brahmanical Mahabharata, we find them mirrored in
the Vaidic patriarchs who are the primitive types upon which all the
others were modelled. But before comparison is possible, the Hindu myths
must be comprehended in their true significance. Each of these mythical
personages bears, besides an astronomical significance, a spiritual or
moral, and an anthropological or physical meaning. The patriarchs are not
only euhemerized gods -- the prediluvian answering to the twelve
great gods of Berosus, and to the ten Pradjapati, and the
postdiluvian to the seven gods of the famous tablet in the Ninevean
Library, but they stand also as the symbols of the Greek AEons, the
kabalistic Sephiroth, and the zodiacal signs, as types of a series of
human races.*** This variation from ten to twelve will
be accounted for presently, and proved on the very authority
[[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * The Bible contradicts itself as well as the
Chaldean account, for in chapter vii. of Genesis it shows "every one of
them" perishing in the deluge. ** Numbers xiii. *** We do not see why the clergy -- especially the
Catholic -- should object to our statement that the patriarchs are all
signs of the zodiac, and the old gods of the "heathen" as well. There was
a time, and that less than two centuries ago, when they themselves
exhibited the most fervent desire to relapse into sun and star worship.
This pious and curious attempt was denounced but a few months since by
Camille Flammarion, the French astronomer. He shows two Augsburgian
Jesuits, Schiller and Bayer, who felt quite anxious to change the names of
the whole Sabean host of the starry heaven, and worship them again under
Christian names! Having anathematized the idolatrous sun-worshippers for
over fifteen centuries, the Church now seriously proposed to continue
heliolatry -- to the letter this time -- as their idea was to
substitute for Pagan myths biblical and (in their ideas) real personages.
They would have called the sun, Christ; the moon, Virgin Mary; Saturn,
Adam; Jupiter, Moses (!); Mars, Joshua; Venus, John the Baptist; and
      Mercury, Elias.

gods described by Cicero,* which belong to a hierarchy of higher powers,
the Elohim -- but appertain rather to the second
class of the "twelve gods," the Dii minores, and who are
the terrestrial reflections of the first, among whom Herodotus places
Hercules.** Alone, out of the group of twelve, Noah, by reason of his
position at the transitional point, belongs to the highest Babylonian
triad, Noah, the spirit of the waters. The rest are identical with the
inferior gods of Assyria and Babylonia, who represented the lower order of
emanations, introduced around Bel, the Demiurge, and help him in his work,
as the patriarchs are shown to assist Jehovah -- the "Lord God." Besides these, many of which were local gods, the
protecting deities of rivers and cities, there were the four classes of
genius, we see Ezekiel making them support the throne of Jehovah in his
vision. A fact which, if it identifies the Jewish "Lord God" with one of
the Babylonian trinity, connects, at the same time, the present Christian
God with the same triad, inasmuch as it is these four cherubs, if the
reader will remember, on which Irenaeus makes Jesus ride, and which are
shown as the companions of the evangelists. The Hindu kabalistic derivation of
the books of Ezekiel and Revelation are shown in nothing
more plainly than in this description of the four beasts, which typify the
four elementary kingdoms -- earth, air, fire, and water. As is well known,
they are the Assyrian sphinxes, but these figures are also carved on the
walls of nearly every Hindu pagoda. The author of the Revelation copies
      faithfully in his text (see

      Rev. 4:7) the Pythagorean pentacle,
of which Levi's admirable sketch is reproduced on page 452.
The Hindu goddess Adanari (or as it might be
more properly written, Adonari, since the second a is pronounced almost
like the English o) is represented as surrounded by the same figures. It
fits exactly Ezekiel's "wheel of the Adonai," known as "the Cherub of
Jeheskiel," and indicates, beyond question, the source from which the
Hebrew seer drew his allegories. For convenience of comparison we have
placed the figure in the pentacle. (See page 453.) [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- [[Footnotes continued from previous page]] and

India among the Mussulmans the name of Terah, Abraham's father, Azar or
Azarh, and Azur, which also means fire, and is, at the same time, the name
of the Hindu third solar month (from June to July), during which the sun
is in Gemini, and the full moon near Sagittarius.

complained to Moses. Editors note: See Zechariah Sitchin
for more details. The Kabbala Denudata gives to the kabalists
a very clear, to the profane a very muddled account of permutations or
substitutions of one person for another. So, for instance, it says, that
"the scintilla" (spiritual spark or soul) of Abraham was taken from
      Michael, the chief
of the AEons, and highest emanation of the Deity; so
high indeed that in the eyes of the Gnostics, Michael was identical with
Christ. And yet Michael and Enoch are one and the
same person. Both occupy the junction-point of the cross of the Zodiac as
"man." The scintilla of Isaac was that of Gabriel, the chief of the
angelic host, and the scintilla of Jacob was taken from Uriel, named "the
fire of God"; the sharpest sighted spirit in all Heaven. Adam is not the
Kadmon but Adam Primus, the Microprosopus. In one of his
aspects the latter is Enoch, page 453the terrestrial patriarch and father of Methuselah.
He that "walked with God" and "did not die" is the spiritual Enoch, who
typified humanity, eternal in spirit and as eternal in flesh, though the
latter does die. Death is but a new birth, and spirit is
immortal; thus humanity can never die, for the Destroyer has
become the Creator, Enoch is the type of the dual man, spiritual
and terrestrial. Hence his place in the centre of the astronomical cross.

But was this idea original with the Hebrews? We think
not. Every nation which had an astronomical system, and especially India,
held the cross in the highest reverence, for it was the geometrical basis
of the religious symbolism of their avatars; the manifestation of
the Deity, or of the Creator in his creature MAN; of God in humanity and
humanity in God, as spirits. The oldest monuments of Chaldea, Persia, and
India disclose the double or eight-pointed cross. This symbol, which very
naturally is found, like every other geometrical figure in nature, in
plants as well as in the snowflakes, has led Dr. Lundy, in his
super-Christian mysticism, to page 454 name such cruciform flowers as form an eight-pointed
star by the junction of the two crosses -- "the Prophetic Star of the
Incarnation, which joined heaven and earth, God and man together."*
The latter sentence is perfectly expressed; only, the old kabalist axiom,
"as above, so below," answers still better, as it discloses to us the same
God for all humanity, not alone for the handful of Christians. It is the
Mundane cross of Heaven repeated on earth by plants and dual man:
the physical man superseding the "spiritual," at the junction-point of
which stands the mythical Libra-Hermes-Enoch. The gesture of one hand
      pointing to Heaven, is balanced by the other pointing down to the earth;
boundless generations below, boundless regenerations above; the visible
but the manifestation of the invisible; the man of dust abandoned to dust,
the man of spirit reborn in spirit; thus it is finite humanity which is
the Son of the Infinite God. Abba -- the Father; Amoria -- the Mother; the
Son, the Universe. This primitive triad is repeated in all the tbeogonies.
Adam Kadmon, Hermes, Enoch, Osiris, Christna, (Krishna) Ormazd, or
Christos are all one. They stand as Metatrons between body and
soul -- eternal spirits which redeem flesh by the regeneration of flesh
below, and soul by the regeneration above, where
humanity walks once more with God. We have shown elsewhere that the symbol of the cross
or Egyptian Tau, , was by many
ages earlier than the period assigned to Abraham, the alleled forefather
of the Israelites, for otherwise Moses could not have learned it of the
priests. And that the Tau was held as sacred by the Jews as by other
"Pagan" nations is proved by a fact admitted now by Christian divines as
well as by infidel archeologists. Moses, in Exodus

      xii. 22, orders
his people to mark their door-posts and lintels with blood, lest
the "Lord God" should make a mistake and smite some of his chosen people,
instead of the doomed Egyptians.** And this mark is a tau! The identical
Egyptian handled cross, with the half of which talisman Horus
raised the dead, as is shown on a sculptured ruin at Philae.*** How
gratuitous is the idea that all such crosses and symbols were so many
unconscious prophecies of Christ, is fully exemplified in the case of the
Jews upon whose accusation Jesus was put to death. For instance, the same
learned author remarks in Monumental Christianity that "the Jews
themselves acknowledged this sign of salvation until they rejected
 [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * "Monumental Christianity," p. 3.
** Who but the authors of the "Pentateuch" could have invented a
Supreme God or his angel so thoroughly human as to require a smear of
blood upon the door-post to prevent his killing one person for another!
For gross materialism this exceeds any theistical conception that we have
noticed in Pagan literature. *** Denon: "Egypt," ii., pl. 40, No. 8, p. 54. page 455 Christ"; and in another place he asserts
that the rod of Moses, used in his miracles before Pharaoh, "was, no
doubt, this crux ansata, or something like it, also used by
the Egyptian priests."* Thus the logical inference would be,
that 1, if the Jews worshipped the same symbols as the Pagans, then they
were no better than they; and 2, if, being so well versed as they were in
the hidden symbolism of the cross, in the face of their having waited for
centuries for the Messiah, they yet rejected both the Christian Messiah
and Christian Cross, then there must have been something wrong about both.
Those who "rejected" Jesus as the "Son of God," were neither the
people ignorant of religious symbols, nor the handful of atheistical
Sadducees who put him to death; but the very men who were instructed in
the secret wisdom, who knew the origin as well as the meaning of the
cruciform symbol, and who put aside both the Christian emblem and the
Saviour suspended from it, because they could not be parties to such a
blasphemous imposition upon the common people. Nearly all the prophecies about Christ are
credited to the patriarchs and prophets. If a few of the latter may have
existed as real personages, every one of the former is a myth. We will
endeavor to prove it by the hidden interpretation of the Zodiac, and the
relations of its signs to these antediluvian men. If the reader will keep in mind the Hindu ideas of
cosmogony, as given in chapter vi., he will better understand the relation
between the biblical antediluvian patriarchs, and that puzzle of
      commentators -- "Ezekiel's wheel."

Thus, be it remembered 1, that the universe is
not a spontaneous creation, but an evolution from pre-existent matter; 2,
that it is only one of an endless series of universes; 3, that eternity is
pointed off into grand cycles, in each of which twelve transformations of
our world occur, following its partial destruction by fire and water,
alternately. So that when a new minor period sets in, the earth is so
changed, even geologically, as to be practically a new world; 4, that of
these twelve transformations, the earth after each of the first six is
grosser, and everything on it -- man included -- more material, than after
the preceding one: while after each of the remaining six the contrary is
true, both earth and man growing more and more refined and spiritual with
each terrestrial change; 5, that when the apex of the cycle is reached, a
gradual dissolution takes place, and every living and objective form is
destroyed. But when that point is reached, humanity has become fitted to
live subjectively as well as objectively. And not humanity alone, but also
animals [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * Pages 13 and 402. page 456 plants, and every atom. After a time of rest, say the
Buddhists, when a new world becomes self-formed, the astral souls of
animals, and of all beings, except such as have reached the highest
Nirvana; will return on earth again to end their cycles of
transformations, and become men in their turn. This stupendous conception, the ancients synthesized for the
instruction of the common people, into a single pictorial design -- the
Zodiac, or celestial belt. Instead of the twelve signs now used, there
were originally but ten known to the general public, viz.: Aries, Taurus,
Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo-Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricornus, Aquarius,
and Pisces.* These were exoteric. But in addition there were two mystical
signs inserted, which none but initiates comprehended, viz.: at the middle
or junction-point where now stands Libra, and at the sign now
called Scorpio, which follows Virgo. When it was found necessary to make
them exoteric, these two secret signs were added under their present
appellations as blinds to conceal the true names which gave the key to the
whole secret of creation, and divulged the origin of "good and evil."
The true Sabean astrological doctrine secretly taught that within this
double sign was hidden the explanation of the gradual transformation of
the world, from its spiritual and subjective, into the "two-sexed"
sublunary state. The twelve signs were therefore divided into two groups.
The first six were called the ascending, or the line of Macrocosm (the
great spiritual world); the last six, the descending line, or the
Microcosm (the little secondary world) -- the mere reflection of the
former, so to say. This division was called Ezekiel's wheel, and was
completed in the following way: First came the ascending five signs
(euphemerized into patriarchs), Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, and
the group concluded with Virgo-Scorpio. Then came the turning-point,
Libra. After which, the first half of the sign Virgo-Scorpio, was
duplicated and transferred to lead the lower, or descending group of
Microcosm which ran down to Pisces, or Noah (deluge). To make it
clearer, the sign Virgo-Scorpio, which appeared originally thus
       , became simply Virgo, and
the duplication, , or Scorpio, was
placed between Libra, the seventh sign (which is Enoch, or the
angel Metatron, or Mediator between spirit and matter, or God and
man). It now became Scorpio (or Cain), which sign or patriarch led
mankind to destruction, according [[Footnote(s)]] ------------------------------------------------- * In Volney's "Ruins of Empires" p. 360, it is remarked that as
Aries was in its fifteenth degree 1447 B. C., it follows that the
first degree of "Libra" could not have coincided with the Vernal equinox
more lately than 15,194 years B. C., to which, if you add 1790 years since
Christ, it appears that 16,984 years have elapsed since the origin of the
Zodiac. page 457 to exoteric theology; but, according to the true doctrine of the
wisdom-religion, it indicated the degradation of the whole universe in
its course of evolution downward from the subjective to the objective.

The sign of Libra is credited as a later invention by the
Greeks, but it is not generally stated that those among them who were
initiated had only made a change of names conveying the same idea as the
secret name to those "who knew," leaving the masses as unwise as ever. Yet
it was a beautiful idea of theirs, this Libra, or the balance, expressing
as much as could possibly be done without unveiling the whole and ultimate
truth. They intended it to imply that when the course of evolution had
taken the worlds to the lowest point of grossness, where the earths and
their products were coarsest, and their inhabitants most brutish, the
turning-point had been reached -- the forces were at an even balance. At
the lowest point, the still lingering divine spark of spirit within began
to convey the upward impulse. The scales typified that eternal equilibrium
which is the necessity of a universe of harmony, of exact justice, of the
balance of centripetal and centrifugal forces, darkness and light, spirit
and matter. These additional signs of the Zodiac warrant us in saying that the
Book of Genesis as we now find it, must be of later date than the
invention of Libra by the Greeks; for we find the chapters of the
genealogies remodeled to fit the new Zodiac, instead of the latter being
made to correspond with the list of patriarchs. And it is this addition
and the necessity of concealing the true key, that led the Rabbinical
compilers to repeat the names of Enoch and Lamech twice, as we see them
now in the Kenite table. Alone, among all the books of the Bible,
Genesis belongs to an immense antiquity. The others are all later
additions, the earliest of which appeared with
      Hilkiah, who evidently
concocted it with the help of
Huldah, the prophetess. Editors note:  Nostradamus, who
was a Jew, used 13 signs of the zodiac to calculate his astrology as does
Dr. Turi as mentioned above. As there is more than one meaning attached to the stories of the
creation and deluge, we say, therefore, that the biblical account cannot
be comprehended apart from the Babylonian story of the same; while neither
will be thoroughly clear without the Brahmanical esoteric interpretation
of the deluge, as found in the Mahabharata and the
Satapatha-Brahmana. It is the Babylonians who were taught the
"mysteries," the sacerdotal language, and their religion by the
problematical Akkadians who -- according to Rawlinson came from Armenia --
not the former who emigrated to India. Here the evidence becomes clear.
The Babylonian Xisuthrus is shown by Movers to have represented the "sun"
in the Zodiac, in the sign of Aquarius, and Oannes, the man-fish,
the semi-demon, is Vishnu in his first avatar; thus giving the key to the
double source of the biblical revelation.
