Imagine this: It is the summer of 2001, and someone presents you with a script for a movie or book that tells how a diabolical terrorist plot unfolds wherein both 110 story World Trade Center towers and part of the Pentagon are destroyed by commercial jets hijacked and flown into those structures.

Of course you would laugh, and if you were a movie mogul or book editor, reject it out of hand as ridiculous and implausible, even for a fictional novel or movie. After all, how could a commercial jet, being tracked on radar after two jets had already hit the World Trade towers, make it through our air defenses, into the most sensitive airspace in the world, and in broad daylight on a crystal clear day, slam into the Pentagon! And this in a country that spends over $ 1 billion a day to defend itself! Absurd, illogical - nobody would swallow it!

Unfortunately, there are some of us who have seen these scripts - and of far worse things to come - and we are not laughing.

One of the few silver linings to these recent tragedies it that maybe - just maybe - people will take seriously, however far-fetched it may seem at first, the prospect that a shadowy, para-governmental and transnational entity exists that has kept UFOs secret - and is planning a deception and tragedy that will dwarf the events of 9/11. The testimony of hundreds of government, military and corporate insiders has established this: That UFOs are real, that some are built by our secret 'black' shadowy govern ment projects and some are from extraterrestrial civilizations, and that a group has kept this secret so that the technology behind the UFO can be withheld - until the right time. This technology can - and eventually will - replace the need for oil, gas, coal, ionizing nuclear power and other centralized and highly destructive energy systems.

This 5 trillion dollar industry - energy and transportation - is currently highly centralized, metered and lucrative. It is the stuff that runs the entire industrialized world. It is the mother of all special interests. It is not about money as you and I think of it, but about geo-political power - the very centralized power on which the current order in the world runs. The world is kept in a state or roiling wars, endless poverty for most of Earth's denizens and global environmental ruin, just to prop up this evil world order.

As immense as that game is, there is a bigger one: Control through fear. As Werner Von Braun related to Dr. Carol Rosin, his spokesperson for the last 4 years of his life, a maniacal machine - the military, industrial, intelligence, laboratory complex - would go from Cold War, to Rogue Nations, to Global Terrorism (the stage we find ourselves at today) to the ultimate trump card: A hoaxed threat from space. To justify eventually spending trillions of dollars on space weapons, the world would be deceived about a threat from outer space, thus uniting the world in fear, in militarism and in war.

Since 1992 I have seen this script unveiled to me by at least a dozen well-placed insiders. Of course, initially I laughed, thinking this just too absurd and far-fetched. Dr. Rosin gave her testimony to the Disclosure Project before 9/11. And yet others told me explicitly that things that looked like UFOs but that are built and under the control of deeply secretive 'black' projects, were being used to simulate - hoax - ET-appearing events, including some abductions and cattle mutilations, to sow the early seeds of cultural fear regarding life in outer space. And that at some point after global terrorism, events would unfold that would utilize the now-revealed Alien Reproduction Vehicles (ARVs, or reversed-engineered UFOs made by humans by studying actual ET craft - see the book 'Disclosure' by the same author) to hoax an attack on Earth.

Like the movie Independence Day, an attempt to unite the world through militarism would unfold using ET as the new cosmic scapegoat (think Jews during the Third Reich).

None of this is new to me or other insiders: The report from Iron Mountain, NY, written in the 1960s, described the need to demonize life in outer space so we could have a new enemy. An enemy off-planet that could unite humans (in fear and war) and that would prove to be the ultimate prop for the trillion dollar military-industrial complex that conservative Republican President and five star general Eisenhower warned us about in 1961 (no one was listening the n, either...).

So here is the post-9/11 script - one that will be played out unless enough people are informed and the plan can be foiled because they will be unable to fool a sufficient number of citizens and leaders: After a period of terrorism - a period during which the detonation of nuclear devices will be threatened and possibly actuated, thus justifying expanding the weaponization of space - an effort will ramp up to present the public with information about a threat from outer space. Not just asteroids hitting the Earth, but other threats. An extraterrestrial threat.

Over the past 40 years, UFOlogy, as it is called, combined with a mighty media machine, has increasingly demonized ETs via fearsome movies like Independence Day, and pseudo-science that presents alien kidnappings and abuse as a fact (in some circles) of modern life. That some humans have had contact with ETs I have no doubt; that the real ET contact has been subsumed in an ocean of hoaxed accoun ts I am certain.

That is, real ET events are seldom reported out to the public. The Machine ensures that the hoaxed, frightening and intrinsically xenophobic accounts are the ones seen and read by millions. This mental conditioning to fear ET has been subtly reinforced for decades, in preparation for future deceptions. Deceptions that will make 9/11 look trivial.

I write this now because I have recently been contacted by several highly placed media and intelligence sources that have made it clear to me that hoaxed events and story-lines are imminent that will attempt to further ramp up the fear machine regarding UFOs and ET s. After all, to have an enemy, you must make the people hate and fear a person, a group of people, or in this case an entire category of beings.

To be clear: the maniacal covert programs controlling UFO secrecy, ARVs and related technologies - including those technologies that can simulate ET events, ET abductions and the like - plan to hijack Disclosure, spin it into the fire of fear, and roll out events that will eventually present ETs as a new enemy. Do not be deceived.

This hogwash, already the stuff of countless books, videos, movies, documentaries and the like, will attempt to glom onto the facts, evidence and first-hand insider testimony of The Disclosure Project, and on its coattails, deliver to the world the cosmic deception that falsely portrays ETs as a threat from space. Do not be deceived. By commingling fact with fiction, and by hoaxing UFO events that can look terrifying, the Plan is to eventually create a new, sustainable, off-planet enemy. And who will be the wiser?

You will. Because now you know that after 60 years, trillions of dollars and the best scientific minds in the world pressed into action, a secretive, shadowy group - a government within the government and at once fully outside the government as we know it - has mastered the technologies, the art of deception and the capability to launch an attack on Earth, and make it look like ET s did it. In 1997, I brought a man to Washington to brief members of Congress and others about this plan. Our entire team at the time met this man. He had been present at planning sessions when ARVs - things built by Lockheed, Northrup et al, and housed in secretive locations around the world - would be used to simulate an attack on certain assets, making leaders and citizens alike believe that there was a threat from space, when there is none. (Before he could testify, his handlers spirited him away to a secret location in Virginia until the briefing was over...) Sound familiar? Werner von Braun warned of such a hoax, as a pretext for putting war in space. And many others have warned of the same.

Space based weapons are already in place - part of a secret parallel space program that has been operating since the 1960s. ARVs are built and ready to go (see the book 'Disclosure' and the chapter with the testimony of Mark McCandlish et al). Space holographic deception technologies are in place, tested and ready to fire. And the Big Media is a pawn, now taking dictation from the right hand of the king.

I know this all sounds like science fiction. Absurd. Impossible. Just like 9/11 would have sounded before 9/11. But the unthinkable happened and may happen again, unless we are vigilant. Combine all of this with the current atmosphere of fear and manipulation and there is a real risk of suspending our collective judgment and our constitution.

But know this: If there was a threat from outer space, we would have known about it as soon as humans started exploding nuclear weapons and going into space with manned travel. That we are still breathing the free air of Earth, given the galacticly stupid and reckless actions of an out of control, illegal, secret group, is abundant testimony to the restraint and peaceful intentions of these visitors. The threat is wholly human. And it is we who must address this t hreat, rein it in and transform the current situation of war, destruction and secret manipulation to one of true Disclosure and an era of sustained peace. War in space, to replace war on Earth, is not evolution, but cosmic madness. A world thus united in fear is worse than one divided by ignorance. It is now time for the great leap into the future, a leap that moves us out of fear and ignorance and into an unbroken era of universal peace. Know that this is our destiny. And it will be ours just as soon as we choose it.

SCI FI Channel Challenges Government Secrecy Supports New FOIA Effort on UFO Records and Release of Report on Failure to Conduct Scientific Research

The SCI FI Channel will announce its support of a new effort to gain release of secret government records on unidentified aerial phenomena, commonly referred to as UFOs and release a new report by an independent journalist on the federal government's failure to carry out systematic scientific research into this widespread phenomenon (5% to 10% of which scientists say cannot be explained by natural or human causes).

Citing the importance to the public of declassifying government records, John Podesta, former Clinton White House Chief of Staff, will speak in support of the effort to gain release of still secret government records. A new FOIA initiative will also be announced.

To generate public support for more disclosure and a scientific investigation the formation of the Coalition for Freedom of Information (CFI) will also be announced.

D2003 was able to negotiate inclusion in the very important Montgomery College debate scheduled for Monday, October 21, 8 pm at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus. It will be televised by News Channel 8.

A taped forum for Montgomery Community Television, Channels 19 and 21 was just completed and will air many times between now and November 5.

Efforts to gain access to two important debates slated for NBC Channel 4 and WTOP radio are underway. There is considerable resistance. Enough cannot be said on how difficult it has become in this country for third part and independent, balloted candidates to get fair treatment from the media, pollsters and debate forums. This needs to change.

In May, 2001 - just one year ago - The Disclosure Project was launched with one of the largest and best-attended press conferences in the history of the National Press Club (NPC) in Washington DC.

In the following days, Disclosure Project military and government witnesses to UFO, extraterrestrial and related projects and events had been seen and heard on CNN, CNN World, BBC, The Voice of America, CBS Radio News and countless other media outlets in the US and around the world. 3-30-2002 - I had a quick, simple vision this morning: 'Stephen Greer/2/dialogue'

As soon as I got up, I pulled out the video, which we bought when it first came out and put it into the VCR.

I began writing down the people who were being introduced on video #2 as instructed in the vision. However, I soon realized I had to write down the pertinent dialogue as well. This is not verbatim in all cases, but gives the gist of what was said:

President Jimmy Carter, wrote to George Bush, Sr., then head of the C.I.A. to release and declassify UFO information. He was refused.

David Sheehan, in his position working for the Library of Congress, went to the Library where the classified library of Project Bluebook was kept in a basement room under lock, key and 3 guards. He was not allowed to take notes or photographs of the microfiche he was allowed to look at. However, while going through the microfiche, he came across a photograph of a crashed UFO with Air Force personnel working and taking photographs of the UFO and bodies on the ground. Since he was not allowed to take notes of photographs, he surreptitiously focused the microfiche onto the back of a yellow note pad and outline drew what was shown there. When he finally left the room, one of the guards went through his entire yellow note pad and not finding anything written on it, gave it back to him, not noticing that there was a drawing on the back. He told this information to the head of SETI.

Wm. J. Davis went to the Vatican Library and asked to see the UFO material they had stored there. He was refused access.

After George Bush, Sr. finished his Presidency, President Clinton went to the head of the C.I.A. and asked to see the files on UFOs held there. He was refused.

(Isn't it strange that the President of the United States can be refused information by an underling?)

Carol Rosin, who worked for Werner Von Braun , was told the first day she worked for him that the government was lying to the people regarding the Space-based weapons request, that there is NO THREAT to the U.S. from space, and that all terrorists work on the ground through small measures.

Stephen Greer stated that we CAN end global warming and pollution. We can do this gradually, with no loss of jobs to anyone, through transforming the workforce over time from the current technology to the new technology of energy for the world.

Following the testimony, there were questions from the media:

1. Is there a law against disclosing UFO information, and can the law be changed if there is one? And who is profiting from the secrecy?

Stephen Greer answers: Corporations such as Lockheed, SAIC, and Northrup are working on advanced energy and propulsion and technology. Also profiting are big oil companies, and fossil fuel companies, etc.

Boutros Boutros-Ghali, when he was head of the UN was advised of the need to disclose the UFO secrecy, but he said there was no mandate to look into the issue. This should be an International Security and Peace issue.

There are 57 different catalogued types of extraterrestrials. Some look just like you and I except they have heightened sight, touch, and hearing. There are 3 types of 'grays', but the government does not call them by that name. (The name was not given)

NOTE: Other researchers speak of extraterrestrials in the many thousands of species.

2. A woman asked about a drawing of a UFO. The question was, is this a real UFO, or one of ours?

A. We are making vehicles, which are duplicates of UFOs, with anti-gravity, which cancels mass-inertia and uses ambient Zero-point energy. The vehicles are being manufactured by a consortium of SAIC, Northrup, and Lockheed. They have super-luminal capacity - faster than the speed of light.

3. A male reporter asked: Since we have been photographing the entire earth from the satelite Lanset I, why have we never seen a UFO?

A. All photographs are sanitized before the reach the public. There is an international agreement between countries to keep the information from the public.

Regarding the radar films of UFOs being seen, there has been intimidation and lethal threat to make sure that radar operators with the NRO to keep their mouths shut.

Regarding Congressional briefings. There have been several private briefings, and they are insisting on public - open congressional briefings now, because nothing comes from the private briefings.

Dick Dinello in 1993 stated there is 40 to 80 million dollars going into black budget projects in the government.

4. Who is hiding the information and why?

A. The secret-covert government. NRO, NSA, Office of Naval Intelligence, MAJI out of the ONI - all armed forces, with special areas of Above Top Secret 'need-to-know' basis.

NOTE: The Top Secret Operation Majestic-12 was established by order of President Harry S. Truman in 1947. Operation Majestic-12, was created to take charge of the technical, sociological and other aspects of the crashed UFOs and the small alien occupants, dead or alive, that were recovered. In later years this operation evolved into and became known as MAJI (the Majority Agency for Joint Intelligence). MAJI is the most secret of all intelligence groups and out-ranks all other intelligence agencies including the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). MAJI is responsible directly and "only" to the President of the United States.

Why?

A. There are special interest groups, in the trillions of dollars, to keep control of the energy supply status, oil, gas, coal, nuclear power and/or geo-political groups so that a country like India doesn't overtake other 3rd world countries technologically on a per-capita basis.

5. If there is a coalition of militarization in space, and the ETs can turn our weapons off, why should we worry about it?

A. There are classified projects going on, manufacturing vehicles that can travel not only here on Earth, but in time and space. We tried to send a weapon to the moon to test how it would work and it was stopped by the ETs.

We need a consortium of PEACE in space. Placing weapons in space sends a serious signal to other countries and perhaps even the cosmic order.

6. How many people are willing to testify? Can you trust them?

A. There are over 400 people who have now gone through our screening process. This field is full of hoaxers and scams and disinformation. All people will testify UNDER OATH that they are telling the truth. All these people have been investigated with background checks as carefully as possible.

NOTE: A comment came from one of the people who was testifying: "There are 10s of thousands of sightings and experiences from all over the world - only ONE of them needs to be true, to prove that UFOs exist.

7. Why would they bother to come here?

A. Because humanity is coming of age technologically speaking as a civilization. When we began detonating weapons of mass destruction and thermo-nuclear devices, the ET civilization took great concern and determined that we had reached the point technologically where we could destroy not only this world, but other worlds as well, because we have not evolved socially and spiritually to live together in an appropriate and peaceful fashion.

We are on a very dangerous trajectory - if we are not careful, we will end up where we are going.

As you know, the recorded testimony of scores of military, government and other witnesses to Unidentified Flying Objects and Extraterrestrial events and projects from around the world establishes the existence of a UFO/Extraterrestrial presence on and around Earth. This recorded testimony consists of dozens of first-hand, often top-secret witnesses to UFO and Extraterrestrial events, internal UFO-related government projects and covert activities, space-based weapons programs, and covert, reverse-engineered energy and propulsion system projects. Former military and intelligence personnel, scientists and unofficial investigators called upon the U.S. government Wednesday to release more information on projects that may be linked to unidentified flying objects.

      “We are asking for the U.S. Congress and for President Bush to move toward an official inquiry and disclosure on this subject,” Steven Greer, director of the Disclosure Project, said Wednesday at the National Press Club in Washington. “It has the most profound implications for the human future, for the U.S. national security and for world peace.”

      During Wednesday’s briefing, more than 20 witnesses said that the U.S. government knew more than it was telling about UFOs and possible sightings of extraterrestrial craft. Among those who spoke were former air traffic controllers for the U.S. Air Force and Mexico City’s airport, a retired Navy pilot, a retired manager from the Federal Aviation Administration, and a retired Air Force officer who said he was involved in UFO investigations and considered some of the incidents to be related to extraterrestrial contacts.

      Government officials have long denied there have been contacts with alien craft or civilizations. However, in recent years the Pentagon has conceded that some UFO sightings were spawned by previously classified Cold War efforts to monitor Soviet nuclear blasts or test military technologies.

      The Disclosure Project contends that the government is working on novel energy and propulsion technologies gleaned from UFOs.

      “Technologies connected to UFO and extraterrestrial vehicles — if declassified and used for peaceful energy generation and propulsion — would solve the looming energy crisis definitively, would end global warming, would correct the environmental challenges that the earth is facing,” Greer said.

      In addition to an official government inquiry on such issues, the project wants the Bush administration to implement a ban on space-based weapons.

Private Project Pushes for UFO Hearings

WASHINGTON, May 10, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- A private group called the Disclosure Project has issued a 500-page report asserting the existence of a cover-up of visits by intelligent beings from a planet or planets other than Earth.

The group called Wednesday for congressional hearings into UFO sightings and assembled roughly 20 people who told the audience personal stories of witnessing UFOs. One person claimed to have seen aliens and the bodies of aliens from a spacecraft crash. One by one the speakers offered to repeat their stories to Congress under oath. Some of the witnesses spoke matter-of-factly while others were more emotional.

John Callahan, now retired, managed an Accident and Investigations Division for the Federal Aviation Administration. He spoke of an incident on Nov. 18, 1986 when a Japanese airliner found itself following, then being followed by, a strange object -- all under the watchful radar of civil and military air traffic authorities.

Dan Morris, a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, spoke emotionally about seeing and photographing three UFOs while working at a radar site in Georgia. Enrique Kolbeck, currently employed as an air traffic controller at Mexico City International Airport, said there had been numerous sightings in that area. One such incident, on March 4, 1992, involved 15 UFOs.

In the summer of 1994 there were a number of sightings and nearly two collisions with domestic flights, he said, and on Sep 15 of that year, a UFO lingered for hours on their radar.

"We had a detection of about 5 hours more or less on our radar We believed the equipment was working in not a good way, because it is not [usual] that we have detection for five hours of the same object and it is on hold. We conferred with the persons for radar in our country and confirmed that the radar was working well. It was very exciting." Kolbeck said they were surprised to find the next day that the saucer had been seen by many people on the ground.

Kolbeck later told UPI that his motivation for speaking at the Disclosure presentation was to gain information on what was happening.

Dr. Steven Greer, director of the project and a former emergency room doctor, chaired the event. Based in Virginia, Greer left the practice of medicine to pursue people's UFO stories full time. Greer asserted that evidence of visitations was lacking largely because the governments of the world were cooperating to keep the facts from the public -- including airbrushing satellite photos to remove telltale signs of spacecraft.

"We are suggesting that ...before the public gets hold of anything that is off of a government-connected satellite there is a [classified] operation that does indeed sanitize this type of evidence," said Greer. "We do know there has been a very thorough sanitizing of this." Greer said he has interviewed some 400 people with firsthand knowledge of UFO sightings or alien evidence. But he said they will not come forward without congressional immunity.

It is not likely that a cover-up of UFO evidence could last across decades and multiple world governments according to John Pike, Director of Globalsecurity.org.

"I find it inconceivable that such a big secret could be kept for so long," Pike told UPI, adding, "the bigger the secret, the faster it leaks." Among the facts being hidden, according to former Air Force Sergeant and Disclosure speaker Karl Wolfe, was an alien base on the far side of the moon.

NASA historian Glen Swanson told UPI that there was no information on UFO's in his office's files at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The Center has transcripts of the air-to-ground conversations, he said, including the comments the astronauts made while they passed around the far side of the moon and were out of touch with flight control. NASA officials told UPI that the agency is not involved in studying the UFO issue.

One person who is searching for intelligent galactic neighbors is Seth Shostak, an astronomer with the SETI Institute. SETI, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, scans the skies for signals from space. The SETI team has not seen evidence of on-Earth visitors, he said. But he explained that the SETI search is a very narrow one and not likely to turn up such evidence.

Shostak discounted reports of UFOs because they have not been corroborated by the many satellites now circling the Earth. Though he hopes to find evidence of intelligent life he termed "untenable" the notion that so many governments across the world would be able to keep such a secret for long.

During the presentation Greer asserted that technology from downed spacecraft had been incorporated into modern programs. Greer even showed a drawing of a saucer-like circular vehicle he said had been under development.

Pike, an expert on space and military projects, said however that he had seen no evidence that advanced alien technology had been incorporated into military hardware.

"I am not aware of any technologies that are not explicable," said Pike. Spokespersons for the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and House Science Committee said that no hearings are currently scheduled on UFOs.

Both noted when asked, however, that hearings are only scheduled about a week in advance. The Senate spokeswoman said her committee was waiting to receive the materials. Did the Disclosure witnesses indeed see UFOs? Possibly -- at least in the sense that what they saw was unexplained.

There are many unexplained incidents. From 1947 through 1969 the Air Force investigated UFOs under a program called Project Blue Book. The project is seen by some, and was mentioned specifically by Morris, as an effort to divert or discredit evidence of UFOs. But even the Air Force was not able to explain everything. According to an Air Force fact sheet on Blue Book, 701 of the 12,618 sightings studied remained mysterious after nearly 20 years of effort.

Just because you see something on radar that you can't explain doesn't make it an alien craft, said Shostak. "The [Washington D.C.] police solve 70 percent of the murders," he said, "does that mean the rest are committed by aliens?"

It is impossible to prove a negative though, noted one person at the presentation. "The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence," a speaker told the audience.

Confessions of a UFO spotter: We don't want a war in space

They got to their feet one at at time, taking their turn at the microphone and unburdening themselves of their stories. They then sat down to rapturous applause. Confession is never easy. When you are confessing to strangers that you believe you have witnessed UFOs, it is even more difficult.

Yesterday 20 witnesses from the American military, intelligence services, and scientific establishments gave their testimony to start a campaign which they hope will force the government to investigate the UFO phenomenon. They want Congress to hold open hearings and to halt the development of space-based weapons "to prohibit acts of war against extraterrestrial civilisations".

Former naval commander Graham Bethune was typical of many giving evidence at a press launch in Washington. He said he was piloting a plane between Iceland and Newfoundland on 10 February, 1951, when he witnessed a series of unexplained lights which rapidly turned into a halo-shaped vessel that flew alongside him.

"The instruments in the cock-pit... we had four or five failures. We had 31 people on board and a psychiatrist we all witnessed it," he said, before adding to raucous applause: "I will testify under oath before Congress that everything I have said is true."

The Disclosure Project, which was set up in 1993 and is coordinating the campaign, said the witnesses were people in senior positions with top secret clearance and who had nothing to gain from inventing stories. The group also wants Congress to hold hearings about technology the UFOs might be using, as a way of dealing with the US's energy crisis.

"A number of members of Congress have told us privately that this is the way it has to happen for people to take the initiative," said a spokeswoman. "These [witnesses] are highly credible. They used to be trusted with nuclear weapons. Why would they not be trusted to believe what the saw with their own eyes."

Filer III, former Air Force Intelligence; Graham Bethune, retired Navy commander pilot with a top-secret clearance; Michael Smith, former Air Traffic Controller, US Air Force; Sergeant Clifford Stone, United States Army; Lt. Major UFO Breakthrough in Brazil

The nation of Brazil is relaxing its policy of UFO secrecy. It is the first among a number of countries known to be considering the idea of abandoning the secrecy mandate that has been in place worldwide since the phenomenon first began to be publicly known nearly fifty years ago.

A.J. Gevaerd of the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers reports that a number of important files have just been released, including a folder containing documents from 1977 that cover dozens of cases of UFOs in the Amazon with over 100 pictures made during Operation Saucer, an official Brazilian military investigation that was carried out between September and December, 1977.

This change in policy means that one of the countries with the most extensive amount of UFO activity is now going to share its previously secret knowledge with the public. To read Mr. Gevaerd's statement, click on full story.

Friday, May 20, was a historic day for Ufology in Brazil and in the world as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), for the very first time in its history, officially receives a committee of top UFO researchers to openly discuss sightings in the country and fully exam classified UFO documents in several military facilities in Brasilia, the Federal Capital.

By doing this very important step, Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has placed Brazil in a very short list of countries whose militaries acknowledge the Ufology as a serious activity and significative effort to fully understand the nature and origin of UFOs. “We want to have all info on the subject, that is withheld by us for some decades, fully released to public, through the UFO community”, declared brigadier Telles Ribeiro, chief of Brazilian Air Force Communication Center.

The Brazilian Government, through the Brazilian Air Force, has finally decided to come forward and recognize the UFO research as a genuine activity as a direct result of the intense pressure made by the campaign UFOs: Freedom of Information Now, a movement started by the Brazilian UFO Magazine in April 2004. The campaign was launched by the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU), composed of 6 UFO civilian researchers: Claudeir Covo, Marco Petit, Rafael Cury, Reginaldo de Athayde, Fernando Ramalho and A. J. Gevaerd (Athayde was sick an replaced by new interim member veteran UFO researcher Roberto Affonso Back)

The approach of the Brazilian military by the CBU committee started last February, ten months after the campaign begun, with a phone call from a Brazilian Air Force spokesman, major Antonio Lorenzo, and a formal invitation to a visit and a chat in some Air Force headquarters in Brasilia. Major Lorenzo fully recognized the UFO researchers’ efforts in this field and provided a few details of what kind of reserved files and procedures the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has about the UFO Phenomena and its detection, recording and investigation in the country.

Two meeting between the civilian UFO researchers and the military took place last Friday, May 20, and firstly happened in the headquarters of the Integrated Center of Air Defense and Air Traffic Control (Centro Integrado de Defesa Aérea e Controle de Trafego Aéreo, Cindacta), a very sensitive facility. During two hours, the researchers were given lectures of the procedures conducted at Cindacta and had the chance to visit air traffic control rooms and understand how UFOs could be detected by the Air Force personnel.

The second and most important meeting took place just after this one at the very reserved facilities of Brazilian Air Defense Command (Comando de Defesa Aerea Brasileiro, Comdabra), an even more sensitive installation that controls the entire air defense situation in the country and surrounding areas of Atlantic Ocean and South America. In this facility the UFO researchers were given full briefing of the top aspects of aerial defense of the country.

It was in this facility that its own commander, brigadier Atheneu Azambuja, admitted to the UFO researchers how concerned the Brazilian military are about the UFO phenomena. Azambuja also gave details of Comdabra procedures and openly admitted that the country has systematically detected and registered UFOs in the country – labeled as “H Traffic” – since 1954. That wasn’t a surprise for the UFO researchers of the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU), but how this registering process took place was.

After detailed explanations of Comdabra activities, brigadier Atheneu Azambuja, for the first time in history, gave full access to the civilian UFO researchers to exam 3 different folders with classified UFO information, cases from specific dates of 1954, 1977 and 1986. The first case was an airplane pursuit of a UFO in the ocean shores of Paraná State.

The second file was much more important. In the folder containing the 1977 docs that could be examined by the UFO researchers were dozens of cases of UFOs in the Amazon with and amazing amount of over 100 pictures made during the so-called Operation Saucer, an official program of UFO investigation by the military that took place from September to December, 1977, and has been fully covered by specialized UFO press over the world.

The third case was the “The Official Night of UFOs in Brazil”, a very significative group of events that happened in May 1986, when 21 objects of over 100 m in diameter jammed Brazilian air traffic control system over Rio de Janeiro, Sao Jose dos Campos and Sao Paulo, mainly, and several jets were sent to intercept – without any success – the intruders.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) representatives at those meetings then fully admitted that Ufology is serious business and broadly recognized the activity of UFO research by the civilian UFO community. And also guaranteed that further steps are about to be taken to let the researchers to exam the entire military UFO files in a more comprehensive way. Plus, a committee of military and civilian UFO researchers was promised to start operating very soon, coordinated by the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU). This certainly means that we will start a new era in Ufology in Brazil and in South America. Very good things are about to happen as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) command, the Brazilian Ministry of Defense and the Brazilian president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva receive the open letters and formal requests for opening for good the documents and start the mentioned committee, as presented to them by their spokesman.

Here in the U.S., Preston Dennett was drawn into the UFO field by the totally unforgettable UFO siege that friends from Topanga Canyon began to share with him in 1986.
