5-6-95 - DREAM - I was in a huge school-type building at about 16th and Oklahoma Ave. in Milwaukee. WI.  

 I went south and west to a job assignment which turned out to be to watch over a rich old man who had so much money, he couldn't keep track of it.  He was getting senile.

The woman who had the job regularly had to leave for a few hours, and just as she was leaving, the butler brought a money clip in and handed it to her. She was in such a hurry, she handed it to me and told me to put it on the old man's dresser. She said it contained a year's worth of interest from the bank ... $4.10.  She said from that amount, I could calculate how much he was worth.

I thought to myself ... "If this is a year's interest, he doesn't have as much money as she thinks he does."

She left and I went into the bedroom to put the money on the dresser and I saw a little plastic bag there with some pennies and other coins there. I picked that up and was holding it in my left hand and just then a thief came in and grabbed the money clip and ran out.

I was in shock from the suddenness of his move and just then, out the window, I saw a tremendous explosion to the north and east where I had just come from. The explosion was so large, I knew there wasn't a single survivor. I knew there was no point being sad or upset, otherwise I wouldn't be able to handle the disaster at all.

My job finihsed, I walked out of the building with the coins still in my hand. I hoped it would be enough for bus far, but when I tried to count it, I knew it wasn't. So, when a woman came up to me and asked me for enough money to make a dollar so she could ride the bus, I gave her everything I had and decided I would walk home.

I was wearing a huge fake fur bear-like coat and as I was walking west, I ran into Bob.. my painter. I told him what had happened. He said, "As long as you have that bear coat, I will protect you and keep you safe."

I thanked him. At the same time, I met two couples walking down the street and linked arms with them, but they were going a different way and left me. I saw the thief lurking behind me and still didn't feel safe despite Bob's pronouncement of protection.

I had my purse, the bear coat, and as I walked along, I saw a nice vest which I put on because there was a chill in the air and then I picked up a brown flight jacket which I picked up just in case I might need it for something.

I continued to walk west to find the streetcar tracks which ran under the city with the intent to follow them north, hopefully to the west of the explosion. When I got to the terminal, I was told by a worker that there was no way through the subway system. The explosion had taken that out. (Note: there is no subway system in Milwaukee, so I knew I was in another city)

I noted that the thief was still behind me.

I stood there then trying to arrange my various coats and my daughter-in-law Becky came along. She said I didn't need all that so why didn't I leave the Bear coat behind. But, remembering Bob's pronouncement, I knew I had to take it with me. So, as I stood there with Becky, trying to arrange all this so I could walk north, the thief came along and grabbed my purse and Becky's purse.

The thief's friend was their too and they rummaged through the purses with great glee.

I let my purse go willingly, saying, "There's nothing in it. I couldn't even afford a bus ride."

He kept rummaging and way on the bottom, behind some papers, he found two $1.00 bills and a couple wadded up $20 bills. Then he waved a huge piece of paper in my face.  He said, "It's a check, for $617.00."  

With great Bravado,  I grabbed it out of his hand and said sarcastically ... "That's no check, it's a receipt, crumpled it up and shoved it in my pocket, keeping my hand in my pocket.

Becky was so upset at the loss of her money, she threw away the books she was carrying.

While the thieves moved aside to count their loot, I picked up Becky's books. All 5 were on radio channels and channeling. They were all white and looked precious to me, so I kept them. The thieves weren't looking, so I shoved the crumpled check into Becky's purse, knowing the thieves had already gone through it and wouldn't want it anymore.

Very steathily, I picked up Becky's purse and cinched it shut, picked up my purse and coats and sneaked up a stairway where I couldn't be seen.

I heard some familiar voices upstairs and I knew I would be safe. When I got up there, I saw Leonard Johns and Otto and some other guys. Leonard said, "Hi! What name are you going under now?" Annie?  Dee?"

I said, "Dee" and knew I'd be safe now.

Somewhere in the dream, I watched a video of the scene in the bedroom and saw the explosion again so I knew I wasn't mistaken about the death toll and remember driving a car north at 80 miles an hour on Highway 100 (108th St.) to keep up with traffic.

NOTE:  I gave this dream to a person on the east coast who was in contact with people where there were subways systems. Later on, he told me that they had caught some men who were planning to blow it up and they had prevented it from happening.  (Sometimes it pays to tell other people your dreams)

New York Named in Terror Threat Against Subways

Security in and around New York City's subways was sharply increased yesterday after city officials said they were notified by federal authorities in Washington of a terrorist threat that for the first time specifically named the city's transit system.

Patrols were increased last night on New York's subway system.

The measures were announced by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, along with Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly and the head of the New York F.B.I. office, Mark J. Mershon, after an American military operation with the C.I.A. and the F.B.I. in Iraq yesterday and Wednesday, according to law enforcement officials. The operation, the officials said, was aimed at disrupting the threat.

Some officials in Washington, in interviews last night, played down the nature of the threat. While not entirely dismissing it, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security described it as "specific yet noncredible," adding that the intelligence community had concluded that the information was of "doubtful credibility."

Several law enforcement officials said an investigation had yet to corroborate any of the details.

The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the operation in Iraq resulted in two people being taken into custody. They said a third was being sought.

Information about the threat, the officials said, came to light last weekend from an intelligence source who told federal authorities that the three men in Iraq had planned to meet with other operatives in New York.

One official said the group would number about a dozen. Another official said the total was closer to 20 people involved. The men planned to use strollers, briefcases and packages to hide a number of bombs that they planned to detonate on the subways.

"It was a conspiracy involving more than a dozen people aimed at delivering a number of devices into the subway," one of the officials said.

One official said the information suggested an attack could happen as early as today; another pointed to the middle of the month.

"This is a piece of information that came in as a result of operations that go on all the time, and to corroborate that information or not we had to go after certain people," one official said.

Mr. Mershon said: "F.B.I. agents and other U.S. government personnel continue to work around the clock to fully resolve this particular threat. Thus far, there is nothing that has surfaced in that investigation or those enforcement actions which has corroborated an actual threat to the city."

Mayor Bloomberg seemed to try to inform New Yorkers without alarming them. He said that while the threat was not corroborated, it was specific enough to warrant an immediate and overwhelming response.

"It was more specific as to target; it was more specific as to timing, and some of the sources had more information that would lead one to believe that it was not the kind of thing that appears in the intelligence community every day," Mr. Bloomberg said.

The mayor urged New Yorkers to continue riding the subways, as he said he would, but cautioned them to be watchful, saying several times, "If you see something, say something."

As he spoke, thousands of city police officers were swarming the transit system. An officer will be assigned to each subway station, and Commissioner Kelly said the Police Department is significantly stepping up uniformed and plainclothes patrols, increasing sweeps through subway cars and posting officers at each subway tunnel that passes beneath city waterways. The department's heavily armed "Hercules teams" and other specialized units will also focus on the transit system, he said.

Bag searches will also be significantly increased, the commissioner said, with a focus on briefcases, baby strollers, luggage and other packages and containers, and he asked subway riders to curtail their use. The searches will take place not only on the subways, but also on buses and ferries, and the Police Department has coordinated the increased scrutiny with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New Jersey Transit, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Amtrak.

Mr. Kelly used narcotics detectives from Brooklyn and Queens and other investigators from the department's Warrant Division to increase security in the subways. Officers mobilized at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Mr. Bloomberg, Mr. Kelly and Mr. Mershon would not discuss the events in Iraq, or where they had occurred, saying that it was classified.

Counterterrorism officials in Washington said the information received this week was highly specific, including details about the possible use of suitcase bombs and explosives hidden in strollers. That information, along with the more general concern that terrorists might stage an attack modeled on the July bombings in London, prompted immediate concern, the officials said.

On an average weekday, an estimated 4.7 million rides are taken on New York's subway system, which has 468 stations.

Russ Knocke, a spokesman for Homeland Security, said the credibility of the threat was still to be determined.

He said Homeland Security "received intelligence information regarding a specific but noncredible threat to the New York City subway system."

Mr. Knocke said Homeland Security shared the information "early on with state and local authorities in New York," adding, "There are no plans to alter the national threat level or the threat level in New York City."

He would not say any more about the content of the threat or the origin of the information.

Paul J. Browne, the Police Department's deputy commissioner of public information, would not discuss whether the source information suggested that operatives were in New York. He would only say, "We're looking at all aspects of this case."

Since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, city and national law enforcement authorities have at times reacted differently to similar threat information. In part, this is because of the varying roles that different agencies play. The New York Police Department, for example, is responsible for protecting the city and its subways and therefore is more likely to act quickly. The F.B.I.'s prime antiterrorism mission, on the other hand, is thwarting plots and apprehending any suspected terrorists - a task that is almost always complicated by information becoming public. But yesterday, city and F.B.I. officials in New York stood side by side and seemed to present a similar message. Officials from Homeland Security did not take part in the briefing.

Of the information from Iraq, one official said: "Suffice it to say it was credible enough for us to be working it very hard and very diligently literally around the clock and around the world. Sometimes it looks incredibly detailed, and then it washes out into nothing, and sometimes pretty vague in nature and it turns into something real. You can't know until you go through the process, and we're going through the process."

William A. Morange, the transportation authority's security director, who is a member of a citywide counterterrorism task force, was informed several days ago about the threat, said Tom Kelly, a spokesman.

"We were kept well apprised of all the developments since earlier this week," Mr. Kelly said.

The Police Department also put into effect a broad range of measures aimed at stepping up security around the city that did not address the specific threat, but were aimed at tightening the city's security cordon. They included increased truck searches on East River crossings and banning trucks from the Brooklyn Bridge.

The department will also increase the use of radiation detectors, and detectives from the department's Intelligence Division will check parking lots and garages in Manhattan and in other areas of the city

NEW YORK (Oct. 7, 2005) - Authorities briefly closed part of Penn Station on Friday and commuters headed to work under the watchful eyes of police after a newly disclosed terror threat against the New York subway system.

A portion of the Amtrak waiting area closes for about two hours at Penn Station to investigate a suspicious package.

A discarded soda bottle filled with an unidentified green liquid was found at the station during morning rush hour, Amtrak officials said. The substance did not pose a threat to passengers and was removed for testing.

A majority of the station was reopened by about 10:45 a.m., more than an hour after it was closed.

Officials in New York revealed the threat Thursday, saying an FBI source warned that terrorists had plotted to bomb the subway in coming days. But Homeland Security officials in Washington downplayed the threat, saying it's of "doubtful credibility."

A half mile away at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Friday, more officers were visible on the streets, and one lane of traffic on Ninth Avenue was reserved for emergency vehicles.

"Hopefully, God's with me and I'll be OK," Vinnie Stella said earlier while clutching newspapers under his arm as he entered the subway at Penn Station.

Rob Johnson, 30, said he wasn't worried. "The cops have it under control."

Mayor Michael Bloomberg called it the most specific terrorist threat that New York officials had received to date, and promised to flood the subway system with uniformed and undercover officers.

"We have done and will continue to do everything we can to protect this city," Bloomberg said at a nationally televised news conference. "We will spare no resource, we will spare no expense."

The New York Police Department boosted existing measures to search for bombs in commuters' bags, brief cases and luggage. The threat also involved the possibility that terrorists would pack a baby stroller with a bomb, a law enforcement official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

The official said the threat was "specific to place," and that the window for the attack was anywhere from Friday through at least the weekend.

In Washington, White House spokesman Scott McClellan on Friday repeated the Bush administration's characterization of the terror threat as "of doubtful credibility" even though the threat was specific.

A counterterror official, who was briefed about the threat by Homeland Security authorities and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the intelligence did not reflect "on-the-ground, detailed, pre-surveillance" methods consistent with credible information. Rather, the official said, the intelligence was similar to "what can be found on the Internet and a map of New York City."

The law enforcement official in New York said that city officials had known about the threat at least since Monday, but held the information until two or three al-Qaida operatives were arrested in Iraq within the past 24 hours. Once the arrests were made, officials felt they could go public, the official said.

Those arrested had received explosives training in Afghanistan, the same official said Friday. They had planned to travel through Syria to New York, and then meet with an unspecified number of operatives to carry out the bombings.

The U.S. military spokesman's office in Baghdad had no information on the arrests. Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said he had seen no indication of a U.S. military operation to round up al-Qaida operatives.

On Thursday, a television station said it held off on reporting about the subway threat for two days because officials in New York and Washington voiced concerns that public safety could be affected and ongoing operations jeopardized.

WNBC reporter Jonathan Dienst, who covers security and terrorism issues, said he started making calls about the threat on Tuesday. Local and federal officials then got in touch, expressing concern that airing the story would do damage.

The station decided to hold off, citing "the intensity of the level of the request," said Dan Forman, vice president of news.

An estimated 4.5 million passengers ride the New York subway on an average weekday. The system has more than 468 subway stations. In July, the city began random subway searches following the London train bombings.

Gov. George Pataki said Thursday the state would call up hundreds of National Guard troops and ask Connecticut and New Jersey to patrol commuter trains.

New York's security level remained at orange, the same level it has stayed at since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. Bloomberg said there was no indication that the threat was linked to this month's Jewish holidays.

"If I'm going to make a mistake you can rest assured it is on the side of being cautious," Bloomberg said at a news conference, flanked by Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. But he stressed that he did not think that any mistake had been made.

"We did exactly the right thing," Kelly said.
