1-9-04 -  DREAM - I was in a school with Joe and we were sitting around in the lobby. I saw the Sunday newspaper comics laying on a table, so I picked it up and saw a cartoon with a huge gorilla sitting in the jungle like a King and a Knight like from the days of King Arthur was going to slay him. In the next cartoon - there was a picture of warriors on horseback, riding off to slay the heretics. I could believe what I was seeing - right in the Sunday cartoons. Was I the only one paying attention? It was lunchtime and a young teen Christian girl came to the lunchroom. She was a sweet girl and was carrying her Bible with her. I decided I would ask this young girl if she understood the symbolism of the cartoon. So I showed the young girl the cartoon and asked her if she knew about the Book of Revelation in the Bible. She said, "Yes!" so I showed her the cartoon and said, "It's right in the Sunday cartoons. That must mean its coming soon." I was then sitting around in the school lobby and saw a large child's coloring book. As I turned the pages of the coloring book, I came across a couple of pages with similar pages like in the Sunday comics. The only difference was that the child would actually have to color in the images himself.  But this time, the warriors were on the same page as the Gorilla and the Knight - and page next to it was empty. I found Joe doing some electrical work in a closet, alongside a telephone repairman. They were fixing some connections inside the closet. Since Joe had already seen the cartoon symbolism, I decided to show the telephone repairman the coloring book picture. He look rather stunned as I told him, "It has to be coming soon to have these pictures in a child's coloring book. Even little children will understand what the Beast of Revelation is." I woke up with my heart pounding from the excitement of this revelation. I lay there in the dark, thinking about this dream and I suddenly heard a loud male voice booming in my left ear.   It said, "We once had a $250,000,000,000 (billion) budget to fight the Beast off." Immediately, I saw President Bush sitting in the oval office, behind the desk alongside the Pope.  The pope had the Beast's face.

A very weird dream Pope Paul and President George Bush Date:1/5/2003 From:Michelle DREAM: Paul and I had moved to a place in the mountains. It was a VERY HIGH elevation. Paul was really excited about the move and didn't seem nervous at all. I, on the other hand, realized it would be a pain because even though the views would be incredIble, and the area was so SO SO very nice, it would mean a long trip up and down a difficult mountaIn-pass to get to the village. WE were looking for the very house we were going to live in. But it seemed like everything was so expensive if we wanted to live in a big BIG house. We were in a car being driven by a real-estate agent around the neighborhood, and she was pointing out the houses that were empty. Most still had furniture in them so they they looked occupied. The previous owners left stuff in them so that "the people down the hill wouldn't think that since so many houses were empty that the hill was going to slide down on top of them" And we were told that if the people who lived at the bottom of the hill realized how many houses were empty up the hill they would be very scared. SO.... we looked at several houses that were empty but had furniture. The first one had a field-stone type siding (or it was made of field stone, but I remember thinking that when you got up close you could see it was siding). It was a nice house for size, but the view was limited by some big rock wall, and for some reason the master bedroom was OUTSIDE. It was made like a carport. I said.. "This is not good. I would have to have that finished in or move the bedroom inside if we consider this house. The agent said, "You can't do that right away. It will take a long time to move that bed inside. So if you don't want to sleep out here, you shouldn't buy this house. We drove to the next house. This one once belonged to a woman who lived there for some time, but had moved. The house was all painted in different shades of brown & yellow. It had all this old Colonial furniture it in and it was like 200 feet long, but only 12 feet deep... like a really long trailer. I HATED the shape. and I really didn't like the colors of the walls. The Agent kept calling them "Golden" but I kept saying they looked like baby poop yellow ... and if they were really gold they wouldn't look like poop. Then we walked into the back yard. In the back yard there was a hill that went up behind and made the view go from an incredible mountain view to a view of a hill going up behind the house. On the top of that hill was a beautiful big house. It had old cape-cod type clapboard around the whole thing. BIG windows that looked out on the most incredible mountain view and it was both Paul and my dream house (at least in the dream!) We asked the agent if they could show us that house, as it was clear from the windows that at least part of it was empty. The agent we were with refused, saying she only sold REAL estate. She said that REAL estate wasn't always so perfect, but that it always had potential. The house we wanted to was a "pipe dream". She said that millions of people try to buy it each year, but it has been empty for over 2000 years! And we were wasting out time. We couldn't buy it. Paul said that we had more than enough money and we had a lot of great ideas for fixing up the house. The agent told us to talk to "Judy" if we wanted the house, but that it was a waste of time. (The name Judy means "praised") We walked over to this woman named Judy. She had a southern accent and Paul seemed to know her, though I didn't think she was one of the 2 Judys he use to be engaged to, he seemed to really agree with everything she was saying. I took him to the side and said... "What are you doing? If we look too anxious they will bring up the price and we won't get the house." Paul assured me he knew was he was doing. Anyway... we were standing behind the house at the bottom of a hill still. And Judy said we had to climb up the hard part of the hill and go in by the front door. But I noticed there was a back door made of glass that was not a hard climb from where we were and we could get inside from there then climb the stairs in the house to get to the front. Judy didn't like this and insisted that the only way to get into the house was the front door. But I opened the back door and we were inside. She was pissed off about that. Just inside the back door there were rooms that were all connected that had big glass panels and you could look out and see the valley below and it was a gorgeous view. But Judy said that the view was not necessarily included. That not everyone gets the view. She seemed upset that I had seen the view (I think paul did too). She said the view was for people who bought from her "agency" only. To which paul said, we love this house already. Just because of where it is. We want it and we will pay the asking price. (I remember thinking he shouldn't have said that, but he wanted the house desperately. He whispered to me, we will tell her what ever she wants, and after the papers are signed it's our and we can do what we want with it.) She said she was really upset that we went in by the back door - that because we did, we would see the last things first and that was going to mess up her sales pitch. We couldn't see the whole house before she told us "the catch". What is the catch? I asked. She was very hesitant then she took Paul to the side and whispered something to him. As she did.... I noticed that the carpet was getting wet. Soon there was an inch of water on the floor. I said to her.. "What is going on?" She said.. "OH NO! Looks like a pipe broke." We ran to the next room to find an old maintenance man standing next to a brass pipe that was coming out of the floor. The pipe was pouring water on the floor. The pipe itself was made of 3 shiny brass pieces and a rubber hose that connected to it where the water should flow. When we walked up to the man he looked at me and said. "If you don't want to see this house flooded and destroyed, you need to bring Rov here to fix this pipe. I just stood there stunned for a moment that he would know Rov. The water was getting deeper and the guy fumbled to put the pipes together but they didn't go. So I looked at Paul, and Judy shouted... "Get Rov or the water damage will be unfixable!" So Paul nodded and I called for Rov. Rov, The Lightbeing came into my body, (This is a channeling method I use. But in the dream I was still standing there beside Paul and Rov). The old man tried to hand Rov a wrench. He didn't touch it. I was about to grab it myself and try to fix the water when Rov said. (and I quote) "I know you, Old Scratch. I don't do work for evil!" and he refused to do anything. Old Scratch said, "If you don't fix it, the water will it will destroy the foundation of this house and the whole thing will fall down the hill! IT is already happening!" Rov said. "Let it fall. You will not destroy your mansion of lies! Your greatest tool! I say let it fall, we will be all better off!" And Rov refused to do anything. Then the old guy looked at me. "Do it! You can fix it yourself!" he said. Paul and I looked at each other and trusted Rov then said... "No" The man grunted with disgust then he put the pipes together himself and stopped the water. Then he called to someone to mop up the mess and Pope Paul and President George Bush came in and started to mop up the water. We started to walk away. Rov said... "What you want this house for anyway? You know it's not real. It will look like any house you want it to look like, but it is really just a place of lies. It has form - but no substance. It tells you it is your place at the very top of the hill, but it is really a slide to the very bottom of the hill." At that point, Judy came back over to us (Rov was now walking with us) and she said, "You know, we have another offer on this house. It's better than your offer but If you come see my boyfriend who is singing in church I will put your offer in front of theirs." "What kind of singing is he doing in church?" I asked. "Morris dancing," she said. I said, "That's dancing - not singing." She said, "he sings and dances. It's going to be a great time." Rov said with a laugh, "Has Morris dancing ever been considered a great time?" and he laughed. "I guess she is saying he's coming with bells on!" (I didn't know what he meant in the dream.. but I looked up Morris dancing on the web and found this....Morris dancing is a form of ritual folkdance which comes from the Cotswold region in western England, between Oxford and the Welsh border. It is ritual as opposed to social dance ...The dancers usually wear bells at their knees and often wave hankies.) Paul said something about how we should go out there just one night so we can get the house. Rov said.. "Sure!.. Yeah!"... and he opened a door and behind the door were wall to wall people all talking about buying the house. All of them each talking about some special deal they have that promises they will own the house. Many of them even waving papers that they said assure them 100 percent they own the house already! I said to Rov.. "They can't all own the house." Rov said, "No one owns this house. This house is not real. You can't buy a house on the hill with money, promises or Morris dancing!" Then Judy said. "So you say, but look at the abundance!" and she opened another door. Behind that door were rows and rows of refrigerators. From old iceboxes to modern ones. All different types and sizes. Judy practically sang out like Julie andrews singing the Sound of Music... "Look at all of these. They belonged to all the previous owners of this house. They left them here full of food and good things for the next owners!" She looked at Rov and said.. "So much for the neigh-sayers. How many refrigerators do you see? And these a just owners since Refrigerators existed!" Rov laughed again and said "Open one!" I tried and Paul tried, but they wouldn't open. "They will only open for the owner of this house!" Judy yelled back at Rov. "No one can own this house! It is not here. It is empty, an illusion! There are no refrigerators in HELL!" and he opened one of the fridges and inside was fake food and some old plastic broken toys. "Let's go. Huh - you two" Rov said to me and Paul and we agreed. "Come back!" Judy hollered. "If you don't I'm going to have to sell this house to someone else! You are going to lose your dream house!" I hated the inside of the house, and Paul did too... and we both realized that we couldn't fix it up, even if we bought it because it would never really be our house. BUT when we went outside, I almost wanted to go back. The house was so beautiful on the outside. I felt relieved that Rov showed up and got out of the deal on the house. Revelation 13 1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. CLARKE'S COMMENTARY - CHAPTER XIII THE BRIDGE BUILDING DECEPTION - THE MARK ON THE HAND

Rev 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand [144,000], having his Father's name written in their foreheads [sealed (with the seal of God) in their foreheads in Rev 7:1-8 ]. [ The 144,000 have been redeemed (raptured, taken) to heaven between Rev 14:1 above, and Rev 14:2-5 below.] 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3 And they [the 144,000] sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand [144,000], which were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are they [the 144,000 men] which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth was found no guile [no lie]: for they are without fault before the throne of God. 6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven [in midair], having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred [tribe], and tongue [language], and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him [God] that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. 8 And there followed another angel , saying, Babylon is fallen [the UN/USA], is fallen [the rebuilt city of Babylon], that great city [New York City (the UN meets in New York City)], because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her [the UN/USA's] fornication. See Rev 18 for a detailed description of this event and its impact on the world]. 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the [sea] beast and his image, and receive his mark in his [the man's] forehead, or in his [the man's] hand, [see Rev 20:4 ] 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the [sea] beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. [see Rev 20:4 ] 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. [see Rev 20:4-6 ] ~ The Harvest of the Saints (The Rapture of the remaining Saints on earth) 14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man [Jesus Christ], having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the [heavenly] temple [with instructions from God, the Father], crying with a loud voice to him [Jesus Christ] that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap [But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. MAT 24:36 ]; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 And he [Christ] that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped [Saints Raptured]. How to Spend Eternity in Heaven ~ A time interval, occurs here, that includes the Wedding and Marriage Supper in Heaven. [see Rev 19:1-14 ] ~ The Harvest of the Wicked (at Armageddon [Megiddo in the Old Testament]) 17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. 19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. [... and he [Christ] treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God [at Armageddon [Megiddo]]. [ Rev 19:15 ] 20 And the winepress was trodden without [outside] the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto [rising as high as] the horse bridles, by the space [for a distance] of a thousand and six hundred furlongs [about 180 miles]. CLARKE'S COMMENTARY - CHAPTER XIV

Revelation Chapter 16 1 I heard a loud voice speaking from the temple to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the seven bowls of God's fury upon the earth." 2 The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth. Festering and ugly sores broke out on those who had the mark of the beast or worshiped its image. 3  The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea. The sea turned to blood like that from a corpse; every creature living in the sea died. 4  The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water. These also turned to blood. 5 Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: "You are just, O Holy One, who are and who were, in passing this sentence. 6 For they have shed the blood of the holy ones and the prophets, and you (have) given them blood to drink; it is what they deserve." 7 Then I heard the altar cry out, "Yes, Lord God almighty, your judgments are true and just." 8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun. It was given the power to burn people with fire. 9 People were burned by the scorching heat and blasphemed the name of God who had power over these plagues, but they did not repent or give him glory. 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast. 4 Its kingdom was plunged into darkness, and people bit their tongues in pain 11 and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and sores. WHO IS THE BEAST OF REVELATION? Here Is Wisdom. Let Him Who Has Understanding Calculate The Number Of The Beast. One of the greatest mysteries of all time is the identity of the dread Beast of the Book of Revelation. The Bible describes him as the ultimate villain in human history. He is the archetype of evil. He is the very incarnation of wickedness and perversion. It is not at all surprising then that many of the brightest minds throughout history have sought to identify and expose him. There have been cases for Nero as the Beast. Other Anti-Christs were Napoleon, Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, George Bush, President Clinton, and other political leaders including the Pope. The Beast has also been identified as the European Union, and the United States. Others have included Pope Leo, Lenin, Stalin, Mussolini, Henry Kissinger, Mikhail Gorbachev, and even Ronald Reagan. Hinting the beast's number—"666"—is also the name of a man, Revelation 13:18, advises the wise to "count" to determine the devildoer's identities. Counting a name, requires an alphanumeric code which apparently relates to the multiples of six (6), whereby A=6, B=12, C=18 and so on through the letter Z. Assigning these numbers to the letters of suspected villains reveals the conspirators in a statistically provable global conspiracy. " Among the names of leading suspects," , "[Henry] KISSINGER is the only name that decodes to '666'." However, William  J Clinton also equals 666 in both Hebrew and Greek. The Number of the Beast: A Numerological Primer According to Revelation 6:8) the beast kills more than one-quarter of the earth's deceived masses through plagues, famine, and war. Always darkest before the dawn, the good news heralding the Messianic Age begins with Revelation 13:18 The largest candidate for the Beast is the conspiratorial elitists of the Illuminati which are actively organizing a combined United States, NATO, and United Nations military force. Its purpose: A furious and blazing end-times bid by the elite to establish their monstrous and deadly Fourth Beast Kingdom on Earth. The identify of the Beast does not come from the Book of Revelation but from the Book of Daniel:  The prophet Daniel was given an awesomely frightening vision of the hideous and powerful Fourth Beast Kingdom: "After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth..." (Daniel 7:7, 9) The angel of the Lord then interpreted this vision for Daniel, explaining that:  "The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces." (Daniel 7:23) Texe Marrs tells us that we will worship the Beast: "The vast majority of the American people--dumbed down by cultural Communism, brainwashed by New Age education, and deceived by antichrist "Christian Celebrity" religious teachers--have become enthusiastic and adoring fans of the Iron Beast. The American people, in their consumption, lust, and greed, have, in truth, become worshippers of Satan. It is he, the dragon, to whom they pay homage through their politically correct, trashy, corrupt lifestyles. This amazing confluence of evil and its warm embrace by the masses was, amazingly, prophesied in the Holy Scriptures: "And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?" (Revelation 13:4) Everything is at the ready. The conscienceless Iron Beast is on the march, fully prepared for war against the saints of God. Its brutal commandos have in their arsenal of death implements with "breastplates of iron" (Revelation 9:7-9). The noisome sound in their wings of steel is like the ancient rumblings of many chariots and horses to battle. The Holy Bible describes their power as the ability to torment and hurt men, for: "They had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails...and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he striketh a man." (Revelation 9:10,5) This foul leader of the Empire of Iron, the Fourth Beast Kingdom, is identified in the Book of Revelation as he who resides in a place of smoke and darkness, brimming with heat. We who are true Christians know him as the false "angel of light," as Lucifer, as the devil, as the adversary, and as Satan. But the Holy Bible reveals there are other names, too, by which he can be identified. The blood-soaked warriors of the Iron Beast's global kingdom, says the Book of Revelation: "...had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon." The four fixed signs of this cosmic event are Leo, Aquarius, Taurus and Scorpio. In the bible Revelation 4:7-8 they are described by their signs, "And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face like a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within; and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty, which was, and is, and is to come." Astrologically Leo is the Lion, Taurus the calf, Scorpio as the flying Eagle, and Aquarius the face of a man. They also represent the four elements fire, earth, water, and air. In the Grand Cross we find Leo opposite of Aquarius, and Taurus opposite Scorpio, the moon shadowing the sun, and nine planets including the sun and moon. Planets also represent our power or chakra centers "As within so without." Aquarius represents the new mankind, the new race with the following attributes: Taurus is the act of service, Scorpio is purity through regeneration, and Leo through the power of love. These are the highest aspects of those signs. This period of time, Aug 11, 1999, in Leo is the beginning of a birth, a nine month cosmic pregnancy culminating with a Grand Planetary Alignment of May 3, 2000. Aug 18, 1999, is another important date of Grand Squares, and on Aug 26, 1999, the Full Moon is another Grand Cosmic Cross of 10 planets.

The Books of Daniel and Revelation clearly identify the "beast" as the Roman Catholic Church. There are over 50 characteristics within Bible prophecy that identify the "beast", or the "antichrist", and every single one, without exception, is fulfilled in the Roman Catholic Church. There is not another power on this planet, in the entire history of the world, that matches every one of these precise and prophetic characteristics. Furthermore, all the Popes throughout history have numbered their names, as most Monarchs do. For example, Pope John Paul II has the number 2 as "the number of his name". Therefore, if we add up the numbers of the name, "John Paul", we arrive at 3. John Paul I (1) plus John Paul II (2) equals 3 (1+2=3). If we add all the numbers of all the Popes' names in the time period specified in Revelation 17, do you know what number Pope John Paul II equals? We are told to, "count the number of the beast" (Revelation 13: 18), and counting up to and including Pope John Paul II, we arrive at the number 665! This means that the next Pope, having a name not previously used, will have, "the number of his name" equaling 666. See:  Who is the man whose number is 666?

Barclay has the following comments on the mark: The word for the mark of the beast is charagma, and it could come from more than one ancient custom. i. Sometimes domestic slaves were branded with the mark of their owner. But usually they were branded only if they had run away or had been guilty of some grave misdemeanor. Such a mark was called a stigma; we still use the word in English. If the mark is connected with this, it means that those who worship the beast are his property. Note: the word used for servants in Revelation means slaves [of Christ] so in the same way those marked by the beast are his slaves or servants. ii. Sometimes soldiers branded themselves with the name of their general, if they were very devoted to him. This to some extent, corresponds to the modern custom of tattooing upon one's person the name of someone specially dear. If the mark is connected to this, it means that those who worship the beast are his devoted followers. iii. On every contract of buying or selling there was a charagma, a seal, and on the seal the name of the emperor and the date. If the mark is connected with this, it means that those who worship the beast accept his authority. Note: this could also be the seal of ownership. iv. All coinage had the head and inscription of the emperor stamped upon it, to show that it was his property. If the mark is connected with this, it means that those who bear it are the property of the beast. v. When a man had burned his pinch of incense to Caesar, he was given a certificate to say he had done so. The mark of the beast may be the certificate of worship which a Christian could obtain only at the cost of denying his faith. The only other NT use of the word for mark (charagma) apart from Revelation is in Acts 17:29 where Paul speaks to the men of Athens "Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone--an image (charagma) made by man's design and skill.' Paul is contrasting idols with the living God who made the world and everything in it see Acts 17:24 cf. Rev 14:7. We should note then the close connection between the mark and worshipping the image (13:15) which is an act of idolatry cf. 2:14, 2:20, 9:20, 21:8, 22:15, therefore receiving the mark means being marked as an idolater. v17 - so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. - The second beast as well as having religious power (v15) also has economic power, no one could buy or sell unless they had the mark of the beast on their forehead or hand. It is significant that the coinage of the time had the head of the emperor on it (Mat 22:19-21) and some emperors used divine titles on the coinage as did Antiochus Epiphanes (Gleason) who is a type of the antichrist. The mark is here described as the name of the beast. In contrast to those who have the name of the Lamb and the Father on their foreheads (14:1) see also those who overcome in Philadelphia (3:12) and those in the New Jerusalem (22:4). It is to be contrasted with the 144,000 who are sealed on the forehead (Rev 7:3). The mark is therefore not a literal mark; it is to be a follower and worshipper of the beast, an idolater, and ultimately to worship Satan rather than God. The number of his name is most likely referring to a gematria, see verse 18. The penalty for worshipping the beast and his image and receiving the mark is proclaimed by the third angel in Rev 14:9-11 and is eternal torment. The first bowl is poured out on those who have the mark of the beast and who worship his image. Those who are victorious over the beast and his image and the number of his name will sing the song of Moses and of the Lamb in heaven (15:2). They will reign with Christ for a thousand years (20:4). THE BOWLS/VIALS The First Bowl (16:2) When poured out, the contents of the first bowl fall “into the earth.” In contrast, the next three bowls affect three other divisions of nature, the seas, the rivers, and the sky. All of the first four affect individuals directly as compared with the last three bowls which are on more of an international scale.The penal consequences of this bowl are an inflamed running sore that refuses to heal.Such a penalty recalls the sixth Egyptian plague in which the Egyptian magicians were victims (Exod. 9:9-11). In the future time of affliction, however, the followers of the beast, who is described in Revelation 13:1-8, will be victims. Job had a similar illness, to which he responded positively by repenting (Job 42:1-6), but the future worshipers of the false christ will not follow Job’s example in turning to God.Some have interpreted the sores as referring to something other than a physical malady, something such as incapacitating problems resulting from persistent sin or mental suffering coming from moral failures. Either of these would, however, be out of keeping with the physical plagues during Moses’ time as well as with the final three bowl judgments which clearly depict literal political judgments. The sixth Egyptian plague imposed physical maladies on the Egyptians. Why should these sores be different? The catastrophic scale of this human affliction is unparalleled in human history. Though we may not be able to grasp the severity of this human illness, we dare not doubt its literal meaning. The assurance of the Word of God is sufficient to cause us to accept that this future malady will affect the whole human race of God-rejecters. These are bad, unpleasant, agonizing ulcers that refuse to go away after they touch the bodies of those who have the mark of the beast and worship his image. Since in those last days beast worship will be universal, except for the followers of the Lamb (13:3-4, 15-17), so will the plague be.Followers of the Lamb will be unaffected just as were the Israelites during the Egyptian plagues. The Second Bowl (16:3) The second angel poured his bowl into the sea which became blood like the blood of a dead person. That recalls the first Egyptian plague except the earlier plague rendered fresh water instead of salt water unusable (see Exod. 7:19-21). Some interpreters have tried to assign a nonliteral meaning to this bowl by saying that the sea represents the nations and the masses of humanity who die in the plague, but the sea is no more symbolic  in this instance than were the waters of Egypt smitten by Moses or the waters of the Euphrates mentioned later in this chapter (Rev. 16:12). The precedent of the first Egyptian plague and the analogy of the other bowl judgments mentioned in this chapter make a literal meaning most probable. The third trumpet brought bitterness to the water, causing death for many (8:10-11), but here the change is into coagulated blood or a blood-like substance similar to it, which when decayed, will yield a foul odor that is loathsome. In the first Egyptian plague, all the fish in the Nile died, but here death comes to “every living soul” in the sea. It is a complete destruction of marine life, not a partial one as under the second trumpet (Rev. 8:8-9). The Third Bowl (16:4-7) With the third bowl, the contamination of fresh waters follows that of the sea under the  second bowl, as was the sequence with the second and third trumpets (Rev. 8:8-10). The first Egyptian plague affected the Nile River principally, but this third bowl will affect all rivers. Further, to keep the earth-dwellers from doing the same thing the Egyptians did to find drinking water (Exod. 7:24; see Ps. 78:43-44), it will turn the fountains or springs into blood too. It will contaminate all sources of fresh water. The blood into which the water turns is just as literal as the blood of the saints which parallels the blood God gives the earth-dwellers to drink in the song that follows in 16:6.In conjunction with this visitation of misery, John heard another song, sung by the angel of the waters: “You are righteous, who is and who was, the holy one, because You have judged these things” (16:5). In echoing the song of the overcomers in Revelation 15:3,“righteous” recognizes the justice of God, and “holy one” recognizes the holiness and majesty of God as an echo of the overcomers in 15:4. “Who is and who was” is a title that recognizes the eternality of God in terms similar to Exodus 3:14. God is righteous because He has judged “these things,” that is, the things described in Revelation 16:4.God’s judging “these things” is further defined in 16:6 “as God’s giving the persecutors blood to drink in response to their pouring out of the blood of the saints and prophets.”Note the correspondence between the crime and its punishment. The angel’s song ends abruptly: “They are worthy,” referring, of course, to the ones who are guilty of taking the lives of the saints and prophets. Followers of the beast deserve exactly what they receive. The next voice John hears is that of the altar, an altar that relates to judgment throughout Revelation (6:9; 8:3-5; 9:13; 14:18). It carries an association with the prayers of the saints for vengeance. The song of the altar again echoes the overcomers’ song of 15:3-in addressing the “Lord God Almighty” (see 15:3). God’s judgments are true and righteous; they agree with His nature. The Fourth Bowl (16:8-9) The fourth angel directed his bowl upon the sun which was given power to burn men with fire. Those burned knew the source of their great suffering because “they blasphemed the name of God who had the authority over these plagues” (16:9). God is directly responsible for all this human misery. They blame God for the first four bowl judgments rather than blaming their own sinfulness. Sadly, they refuse to repent and give God glory. Deserved punishment hardens the callous heart even more. Reviewing the account of these future judgments that will beset the human race triggers the recollection that God never punishes those who have not had an opportunity to find forgiveness through His grace. For almost two thousand years, this world has had access to the good news that Jesus Christ bore the sins of the world when He died. He was raised from the dead as a testimonial that God accepted His death as a substitute for the sins of mankind. Yet many have not and will not avail themselves of that provision through repentance and trust in the Savior. May many that read these words not fall into the same error as the worshipers of the beast during the last part of human history just before Christ returns to earth. “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
